Oct 22, 2013 9:14 PM in response to LowLusterby tranceman07,You have to press the power button down for about 3.5 seconds - kinda tricky though cause if you hold it too long you get a hard reboot!

Oct 23, 2013 2:39 PM in response to LowLusterby Livebox,I'm with you all the way on this one LowLuster.
Call me old-fashioned but I've simply got to have the old way back somehow!
Any takers?

Oct 23, 2013 3:59 PM in response to Liveboxby LowLuster,I wouldn't mind if instead of putting the system to sleep it shut it down. But in the end there should be a GUI option to select what the power button does. Sleep, Shut Down or bring up that options dialog box. But Not with Apple. This is the one thing I can not stand about Apple. It is Their Way Only. No user options allowed. Apple Knows Best for everyone.

Oct 23, 2013 4:59 PM in response to tranceman07by LowLuster,Thanks but that is not the point. The point is I do not want to have to hold down some other key to bring up that dialog box. That is not easy and takes either 2 hands or a contortion of one hand.
Old way, Press power button and hit the S key to sleep, the R key to restart or the Enter key to shut down.
I did a search on this and it has been reported as a BUG since the first Beta release of Mavericks. But did Apple listen, NO. They just change things even after they are told no users like it.

Oct 29, 2013 6:23 PM in response to LowLusterby Betozotz,Is a problem, and they had to keep and option to user choice the best option.
For me, the old style is better, because more than once my girlfriend pressed erroneous the power button, instead delete, and, this was the only times the MacBook Air crash, forcing a hard reset to computer works, and again 3 times until she learn that power button is "dangerous"...
