I'm updating to Mavericks, I downloaded the installer and got to the stage where you have to restart the computer and let the installer run. When I did this, the window was half below the screen, so I couldn't see the progress of the install - I think this may have had something to do with having the mac connected to an external monitor.

Anyway, I left the install for a while but no change occurred. I thought there may be a button I have to select which I couldn't see as the window was cut off. I chose to quit the install and restart from a disk. Now I'm being asked to set up a new computer. What can I do to get back to my original computer with all the data and try the install again?

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same situation.  External monitor was attached.   Only top half of screen showing.    Have not interrupted it yet though   Guess I'll wait some more.  If you have a time machine back up you can probably restore from that.  The setup program should prompt for that.  If not I don't know.
