Feb 2, 2013 12:16 AM in response to Penstockby Alley_Cat,Are you using an HDMI to HDMI lead or some kind of adapter for HDMI?
Try a different HDMI lead or socket.
Unplug and restart the AppleTV and also power the TV on/off.
HDCP is a digital copy protection system - AppleTV doesn't like some aspect of the connection so is refusing to play - the lead/socket could be dodgy or AppleTV/TV circuitry.

Sep 25, 2013 9:14 AM in response to Alley_Catby Robertopv16,Hello I am no t using any adapter but I don´t understand what you mean by a HDMI to HDMI lead. As for teh other recommendations I have tried to turn on and off all of them and reset both the TV and apple tv. I had this problem for a couple of weeks but it used to work fine before. What has changed?

Oct 18, 2013 8:30 PM in response to Penstockby Epicjeff,The only workaround I've found is unplugging both the Apple TV AND the TV for about 30 seconds. That fixes the problem...but only until the next time I want to watch something. Then I have to go through the unplugging process again. Very annoying and persistent problem. There may be nothing wrong with your cable or how it's plugged in. I've tried different cables, it doesn't matter. It's probably just the device and hdcp system. I like my other apple products, but I am very disappointed in this Apple TV. I wish I had just gotten a roku.

Oct 23, 2013 3:23 AM in response to Penstockby ruskey2001,Kind of odd how this issue of HDCP error has been around for a while and the only responses for a work around are for the end users to manually plug and unplug, turn off and restart, buy new cables, buy this or that, rather than have the source of the problem solved? Maybe a good question is what part of the code which deciphers this HCDP is not working and fix the code?
