iCloud doesn't store books.....where are you looking that you see books that you want to delete?

Once billed for the iBook log into your iTunes account and report it as a problem. To delete the book go into iBooks then tap the edit icon select the book then tap delete.

In my Purchased Books collection, I select the books, tap delete and they are still there. If I touch one, it downloads from the cloud, but not the iCloud, and goes into the Books collection. Then I Edit, Delete From All Devices, and it is still in the Purchased Books collection.

Also, if from iBooks, I select Store, then select Purchased, I see a bunch that are "Downloaded" and a bunch with a cloud symbol with a down arrow. There is still no way to delete these cloud things.

You can't currently permanently delete any items from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they are less visible : hiding and unhiding. If you are on iOS 6 on your device then you will need to do it via your computer's iTunes, hiding isn't currently possible directly on iOS 6 devices. As that only hides them from the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app, you may also need to set Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'off' on your device so that they don't show on the bookshelf with the cloud symbol

This solution doesn't help me. I am using up all my cloud space with old books that I am not going to reread. I want to be able to delete some of them so that I am no using up all my cloud storage on these books. I also got some that I never liked and didn't feel I wanted to waste my time on, but never found a way to return, so I wasted my money and now my storage on something I don't want. There needs to be a solution.

Content that you've downloaded from iTunes doesn't use any of your iCloud allowance, your free 5 gig or any additional storage that you've bought doesn't include it. You can't permanently delete any items from your purchase history, all you can do is hide items so that they don't show in the Purchased tabs for re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919 (if your device is on iOS 7 then you may need to log out and back into your account on it after hiding items on your computer's iTunes for them to be hidden from the Purchased tabs on it)

This is so lame. If I want to permanently, and completely, delete a book from device or from my cloud storage, I should be able to do so.

None of the book applications out there work that way - not Amazon/Kindle, not Banrnes & Nobel Nook, none of them. They keep you ENTIRE purchsased library in the Cloud, so you have access (when connected to Wifi) to your many, many books that you have lined up to read over the next sevaral years.
You then selelct the ones you want to have on your devide right now, and you download those only. Then, you just don't even have to click on teh "Cloud" option if you just can't stand to be overwhelmed by such a vast array of potential reading material.
What, exactly, is the problem?
And oh, by the way, you can delete a device from iCloud at any time by deleting the iCloud account off of the device....how hard is that?

I have two ePub books, one downloaded from Project Gutenberg and one from another source, that I imported into iTunes then transferred to my iPad. Upon opening them, I discovered that they are usable because of errors in text and formatting. These two books were synced to iCloud and now cannot be deleted. They cannot be removed from Purchases, though they were never purchased from the iBooks Store.
Whether purchased from the iBook Store or downloaded from somewhere else, I should be able to completely remove an unwanted book from iCloud. It does not matter if it is unusable because of errors or simply unwanted. I do not want to remove iCloud from my device, because I want to read the rest of my library on my Mac, or my iPad, or my iPhone.
This, Gail, is a problem.
