System hangs when switching between apps in OS X Mavericks for 10-30 seconds

After upgrading to Mavericks I am getting an annoying behaviour of the system getting stuck for 10-30 seconds when switching between the applications. It seams that the applications are stuck , mouse is not moving but other stuff like activity monitors gets updated ( you still can't move the window or mouse)....

Anybody exprience the same behaviour?

Thanks,

Simon

Yeah, same here after upgrade.

It is not related to any specific application — this behavior and freezes are system-wide, lock up is affecting any input devices — both keyboard and trackpad or connected mouse. Input gets sometimes “buffered” and if I try to switch apps several times with CMD-Tab, after un-freezing I see these keystrokes sent to the system.

It is not related to memory use — my Activity Monitor shows 263 MB of swap use (which is very little).

It is not related to power mode — I see this both on AC and battery.

Seems like some breakage in compressed/decompressed memory procedures in OS X Mavericks. If our Apple Overlords don't fix it soon I will have to roll back to Mountain Lion, because this freezing is very annoying and I have zero buyer's regret about new version because hey, free upgrade, nothing gained, nothing to lose.

(This freezing brings to mind the times when apps were “lifted” from Swap in old sad days of slow drives and memory shortage in Windows. Hang-ups looked similar, only difference is that system didn't lock up all the user input sources.)

Not sure if this is related but my whole system will lockup within 5 minutes of login if not sooner. Trackpad and keyboard freeze and nothing on the screen seems to refresh. Sometimes it will lockup during the boot screen (apple logo and spinning circle). Safe mode doesn't fix it. I let it sit for another 10 minutes (locked up after successfully logging in) and it didn't become responsive. Only fix seems to be a hard reset, which only gives me another couple minutes of use before another lockup occurs (assuming it doesn't lock up mid-boot). Upgraded from 10.6.8. System was perfectly stable running Snow Leopard. Also, if I launch the recovery partition and open Disc Utility it will stay responsive for as long as I leave it open (hours) so I'm definitely blaming Mavericks!

Much more than annoyed at this point.

Confirmed — updating LCC didn't help, so I uninstalled it: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26976.

System doesn't lock up anymore. Mouse is working fine with default drivers, and I don't really care for any additional bells and whistles from the control center anyway.
