I wanted to let yall know that the latest SMC firmware update has worked absolute miracles with my MPB. With one fell swoop, my heat issues and mooing fans have disappeared. I am, for the first time ever, comfortably using this computer on my lap:) Looks like my iLap will be granted an early retirement.

Although I'm thrilled to finally have a computer that justifies the $3000, I can't help but question the complete lack of communication on Apples part. Would it be SO damaging for Apple to admit that they were working on a fix for the heat and other issues? What is the advantage of the silent treatment? There has been so much negative press and energy surrounding these issues that it has turned life-long customers away for good!

In fact, it makes me cringe to think about how much stinking time I've waisted on these forums scouring for a morsel of info that might clue me in to what the problem might be.

I guess I've learned a lesson here. I've got to assume that Apple is constantly working to improve their products. In the meantime, I've got a warranty that safeguards me from any manufacturing or design flaws that might cause the machine to fail. If it does fail, then I'm covered. That's it!! Now it's time to truly enjoy this beast of a machine!!!
