I've been experimenting with this all day, as it seems that some calendars are available, and some are not. I have Spain and Singapore working (https://p05-calendars.icloud.com/holiday/ES_es.ics and https://p05-calendars.icloud.com/holiday/SG_en.ics) but the UK one does not exist. Similarly, I can find US_en.ics and CA_fr.ics as well as CA_en.ics, but there is no AU_en.ics, which is what I assume you would need. Hopefully someone picks up on this and solves it quick.

Thanks for that, good to know here in Oz we are not alone. It's a bit sloppy by Apple IMHO. Looks very unfinished

I've got 'UK Holidays' from https://p17-calendars.icloud.com/holiday/GB_en-GB.ics
My query is that it appears under 'Other' at the moment, as it is 'On My Mac'. It can also be turned on and off in iCal prefs. But I have another 'UK Holidays' in iCloud that doesn't get turned off! They both show up as duplicates. I assume one is a legacy from an earlier OS and one is initiated by the upgrade to Mavericks. My question is, which is the 'correct' one? I don't want to delete one and then find that support for it disappears!
If I move the 'Other' 'UK Holidays' to iCloud, what will happen, I wonder?

I would delete both and then add the "good" iCloud one (which you listed, the pXX doesn't seem to matter):
