Oct 24, 2013 11:04 AM in response to retromediaby Robert_87,Thx a lot for this!!
Until now it seems this worked for me too. I am using a Logitech Performance MX.
It seemed the lag particularly often occurred when I opened the preview (i.e. looking at pictures or PDFs)

Oct 24, 2013 4:39 PM in response to Robert_87by lsal,I also have this problem and have a Logitech mouse.
It sounds like it is a problem with the logitech drivers? I am going to install the new version of the logitech drivers and see if that fixes it.
I also see this in the Console.app every single time that the mouse freezes:
kernel[0]: com_Logitech_HIPointing::terminate(kIOServiceSynchronous) timeout
kernel[0]: com_Logitech_HIPointing::terminate(kIOServiceSynchronous) timeout
kernel[0]: com_Logitech_HIPointing::terminate(kIOServiceSynchronous) timeout

Oct 25, 2013 3:35 PM in response to lsalby lsal,So the new Logitech driver (3.8.0) did NOT fix things for me, but I switched to a Microsoft mouse, and that works.
The problem is something with the Logitech drivers, even 3.8.0. I hope they fix this soon, or else I will have to replace my Logitech mouse.

Oct 25, 2013 3:51 PM in response to lsalby LeafsMac,Too bad. It's apparently hit and miss. It worked for me.

Oct 25, 2013 5:28 PM in response to lsalby mrtew,Did you delete the preference file too, Isal? It's the most important part I think, not just the new driver. In fact when I started adding a bunch of custom settings for different applications back in the problem started to come back so deleted them and satisfied myself with just a few "global" customizations.

Oct 26, 2013 5:02 PM in response to lsalby avanjasound,I am suffering from this as well. Apple keyboard latest white and old Logitech mouse. I can confirm that it appears the driver just simply cuts in and out, or just dies. (The mouse tracker light either blinks or is off entirely)When the driver hangs, both keyboard AND mouse useless....so this is issue affects all the USB devices attached. Can also confirm using remote buddy to remotely control mouse. System seems fine except for the USB processes.
Will try to update the Logitech drivers and report back. Oh and all this is after mavericks update. I actually thought at first the machine was crashing and was upset because Lion NEVER crashed for me and since updating I have had at least one or more crashes a day...rather not really crashes but the USB processss hanging or quitting which can lead to thinking the computer is frozen and has crashed with no keyboard or mouse input.

Oct 27, 2013 5:11 PM in response to avanjasoundby lsal,Re: avanjasound
Good call on this. I have the same problem, the USB cuts out for ALL devices (keyboard, for example), not just the mouse. It must be a Logitech problem, but it only happened on one of the three OS X 10.9 machines that I have a Logitech mouse connected to.

Oct 27, 2013 7:52 PM in response to avanjasoundby Michael Philo,Hi there,
The problems you've been having with connected usb devices is also happening to me.
I've no response from any usb device since upgrading to 10.9
I've tried everything, swapping ports, leads, keyboards, mice etc, etc.
I'm using a genuine Apple Wired Keyboard, Genuine Magic Mouse, Genuine Apple Wired Mouse and a Microsoft USB Explorer Mouse.
The only way I can get the usb devices to be seen and be able to use them is if I boot up into diagnostics mode.
Have you had any useful replies to you post?
I don't use any Logitech devices.
Many thanks, Mikee

Oct 28, 2013 7:02 AM in response to Michael Philoby Mattadolphus,Maybe I don't have the same problem as others here. My keyboard and mouse problems only apply to bluetooth enabled periphels. My USB works fine. It's the bluetooth mice and keyboard that freeze when opening or switching between SOME applications. And not always the same applications. It's the seemingly haphazard nature of this problem that is so infuriating.

Oct 28, 2013 7:50 AM in response to Mattadolphusby Mattadolphus,I spoke too soon. The USB Logitech Mouse does move the cursor around when the Bluetooth peripherals are frozen out, but the buttons refuse to work during the same shut down period as the bluetooth.
Could this get any weirder or more annoying?

Oct 28, 2013 8:18 AM in response to Jonathan Laliberteby Michael Philo,Hi everyone,
Bluetooth working, I should be so lucky.
The only way I can get my USB devices (Keyboard & Mouse) to be recognised is if I boot up holding down the option key and enter into Disk Utility.
I'd like to add too that I've tried every USB port ( front & back ) and I've even tried using an USB to FireWire adapter.
I also have the Micromat FireWire Protogé Drive with Tech Tool Pro and Disk Warrior Installed on, which both run from the FireWire drive with no problem. When running from Protogé my USB devices work.
I'm buggered if I can work out what's going on.
Since OSX 10.7 one cannot boot up into single user mode and run that extremely useful kernel Programme AppleJack, unless of course I'm missing a trick.
If anyone has any ideas of how to help idle extremely grateful because since upgrading to Mavericks all I have now is.a very expensive anchor.

Oct 29, 2013 1:33 PM in response to rwmorrisonjrby David Besack,Logitech's page can be iffy, and there's more than one place to download. Try navigating through their support and downloads section rather than just Googling the LCC software and going direfctly to the page.
