Following all the tips listed here I am successfully pulling an 11hours+ on my 15" RMBP

3x Safari Tabs open, 50% brightness, system preferences app open (also dropbox, plex media server, google drive running in background)

    Hi Geordie,

    That is great news.

Did you reset PRAM and SMC? Restore from Time Machine?

I'm still seeing the power consumption all over the place. Would be nice to know which or the steps you think did it.

I'm having same problem but an Apple certified tech told me that resetting the PRAM & SMC are just temporary fixes. It seems to me that there is a different issue happening. I am hoping that 10.8.3 will fix this.

That's crazy... I did a PRAM reset earlier and the deskotp.plist removal and with nothing running I get 8h30.

    Only process running is Dropbox.

I'm at 873mA for running nothing at 50% brightness.

I will do an SMC reset when I'm home as apparently you have to be connected to a power source to do the procedure

this realy helps me as i am useing a HP laptop and i am tring to find out why at times windows says in the window where it tells your battery %, "236%" as i was tring to find an answer to this problem. but a quick solve to that would restart as one soultion and the 2nd is to charge it for 30min then discharge useing as much of the battery you can in 10-15min to prevent from shuting off also keep the charger at hand (literaly) then shutdown and set on the charger for as long as reccomended for the battery as if it fresh out of the box/bag. though with li-ion those are the steps to solve it as i am not sure for lo-po as the same can be done. i was pritymuch winging it as it dose work but on li-ion with HWMonitior (HardWare Monitor) i was using the mAh value as my marker for the estamite. but again thank you for that li-ion battery part on the post.

    Any updates on this ?

I have done all verifications regarding my battery - which is fine.

Any of the 3 steps described here are working : what should I do ?

I suffered from poor battery live and the follwing solved my problem: Install OS X Mavericks.

In Mavericks you can use Activity Monitor to check the energy consumption on a per app basis! You see the peak an average energy consumption of each app.

Now, afer one year, I have spotted that there was a background process consuming unjustified amount of energy.

PS: In my case, it was the driver of the Smart board software "SmartResponse"

I have been having battery issues with the latest rMBP 13 inch (late 2013). But I thinked I solved the problem.

If you have tried this already:

    http://www.imore.com/how-resolve-battery-life-troubles-your-retina-macbook-pro

and still have issues, then do this:

Simply go and create a new user account as Administrator. This solved my issue and it now reads many more hours on my battery monitor.

    Hope this helps.

I had this problem for a year, the battery just lasted for 2-3 hours with no CPU usage, and last week bring my rmbp to the apple store, it was seem the graphic card had a problem and they chaged it.

now is again around 4-5 hours (with 223 cycles...)
