Oct 23, 2013 9:17 PM in response to lordjphotography.comby saer bear,Same problem, however I'm having it trying to update Pages, Keynote & Numbers. Saying that I installed them on another Mac (it was transferred to this one via a Time Machine backup), back in the day when iWork came on CDs.

Oct 24, 2013 9:07 AM in response to lordjphotography.comby JediMstr,I have the exact same problem with Aperture and iWorks. I was able to update iLife Apps without trouble (iPhoto) but Aperture and iWorks both say "Update Unavailable with this Apple ID" and from looking at the forum, this is pretty consistent among those who originally installed via DVD versions versus Mac App Store download.
I've seen various solutions including trying to install via a Mavericks VMware Fusion installation to have it register again in the Mac App Store, and then signing out and in the App Store on the actual machine to update. I may try that if they don't have the rumored fix for this issue on Friday.

Oct 24, 2013 11:20 PM in response to JediMstrby cfn3,Same problem with Aperture. I only have one AppleID so there's not a way that I purchased it with another ID. I tried creating a new administrator account on my computer and signed into the App Store. It listed the availabe Aperture update but when I tried to download and install it, it said that the update was unavailable with this Apple ID. I'm thinking there is something wrong on Apple's end.

Oct 25, 2013 3:26 AM in response to cfn3by JediMstr,I fixed the issue in a pretty round-about way.
I installed a new Mavericks Virtual Machine and installed iWork and Aperture on it using the DVD's I had. Then I was able to update these in the VM which registered them to my Apple ID and listed them finally on the purchased list.
Then, on the original Mac I was able to update without the "Unable..." Error.

Oct 25, 2013 12:26 PM in response to lordjphotography.comby mr_smith_j,Since the minute I downloaded the new OS X Mavericks 10.9 my iPHOTO app on my iMAC has a white line through it and is not compatible. Then EVERY time I try to update it in the app store I get the same message that many others have received --->
Update Unavailable with This Apple ID
This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID.
Sign in with that Apple ID and try again.
The iPhoto software came pre-installed on my iMac when I purchased it new in 2010 directly from the Apple store, so it was NEVER purchased or updated with a different Apple ID. And no one else has access to my account or my computer. I’ve never changed it my id. I started with Snow Leopard and have done all the operating system updates though now and iPhoto has always worked fine...until now. I have tried EVERY remedy posted on this thread and others, short of starting over and wiping my iMac clean. I was on the phone with 2 Apple advisors and a senior tech yesterday for 3 hours and no one could find a solution other than some apparent 24 hour self fix that some people are experiencing. Apple is supposed to call me back today to see if it magically fixed itself. Anybody else find any better solutions other than dropping my iMac off the top of a building?
On a side note...(even though I know they stopped updating it) my iWeb app, which I still have all my websites created on, is now not functioning correctly. The writing/ words on any particular web page within the app are all scrunched together. Again, even through all the operating system updates, iWeb has always worked fine...until now.
Thinking of backing up, wiping clean and going back to Mountain Lion...so far I'm not impressed with Mavericks.
Any help or other suggestions with this problem would be appreciated.

Oct 25, 2013 12:49 PM in response to mr_smith_jby ramilfromaz,I'm in the same boat as you, Mr_Smith_J. I also have a MAC that came preloaded with iMovie and iPhoto. But I have noticed this same problem just a couple of days ago before I upgraded to Mavericks and thought to just ignore it until I upgraded. Anyhow, I upgraded to OS X Mavericks today and these two apps came up as requiring update. When I try to update it, I'm getting the same response, "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again." I don't want to bother with the Apple Techs because I'm sure I'll get the same response with what they gave you. Please post back with an update from Apple. Much appreciated!

This is probably what I'll end up doing if a better soloution doesn't come up soon but it's a real annoyance.

Nov 1, 2013 1:45 PM in response to ramilfromazby mr_smith_j,Ramilfromaz, After 9 days back and forth with Apple and their senior advisors I finally spoke with one that was very helpful and would not quit until we resolved the problem. I tried EVERYTHING recommended on this thread and others, and NOTHING worked. The only solution right now is to have Apple Tech Support Senior Advisors contact iTunes to have them reset your App account. What FINALLY worked was:
-backing up my computer to an ext hard drive
-deleting iPhoto (drag it from the app folder to the trash) (Your iphoto home folder should still be saved in YOUR finder folder.)
-empty the trash
-At this point, sign out of the App store and then back in. If you see that you are able to purchase or upgrade at this point then go for it. IF NOT, then you have to go further as did I, b/c the App Store still would not let me upgrade, download or even purchase iPhoto.
-Then the senior advisor had to get iTunes to reset my app store app from thier end.
-After they did that, the senior advisor provided me with a redemption code for the latest version of iPhoto that I typed into the REDEEM section of the app store.
-Then it downloaded and works just fine now.
So the problem seemed to be on the iTunes / App Store end of things. After the App tech was able to get iTunes techs to "reset" my account (log in, passwords and info stayed the same) everything went very smoothly.
It also has to do with people who purchased iMacs or Macbooks before the Mac App Store was introduced...or right around the same time it was. These legacy members who had the pre-install app DVD were not syncing up corerectly with the MAS and iTunes. Until they get the MAS and iTunes synced up and recogignizing the pre-install apps and software, this will continue to be a problem.

Nov 1, 2013 5:27 PM in response to lordjphotography.comby LJohnstonDC,I had the same problem with iWorks that I installed on my Mac as iWorks '09 on DVDs after upgrading to Mavericks. The way I got around it was to upgrade my iWorks '09 on my laptop that I had also upgraded to Mavericks, but on which I had already loaded iWorks '09 before upgrading to Mavericks on the laptop. Upgrading iWorks on the laptop seemed to have assigned my Apple ID correctly to the upgrades, so when I subsequently tried again to upgrade iWorks '09 on my Mac the upgrade went through like a charm. (I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't already had iWorks '09 on my laptop when I upgraded my laptop to Mavericks.)

Nov 5, 2013 11:25 PM in response to lordjphotography.comby MichaelHund,I am having this problem with an Aperture upgrade. All other upgrades have recognized my App store credentials, but Aperture doesn't, and I've tried many different routes in, all the same. I've only ever had one Apple account.
I upgraded from a Macbook Pro to a Mac Pro recently, and a few days ago upgraded the Mac Pro to Mavericks, but havent upgraded the Macbook to Mavericks yet. I'll try upgrading Aperture tonight on the Macbook, then upgrade the Macbook to Mavericks, and see if that works. If it does, then when I get back into the office tomorrow, I'll see if the Mac Pro will upgrade Aperture.
I'll keep you posted.

Nov 5, 2013 11:39 PM in response to lordjphotography.comby conorfromvictoria,Same problem for me too.
Apple is aware of the problem and is working on it.
My iWork actually upgraded on its own and then still assumed the
my iWork 09 isn't mine.
I get an account error type null when trying to update
IWork now.
Mysterious problem on App Store????

Nov 6, 2013 11:11 AM in response to MichaelHundby MichaelHund,No luck with the laptop, OS X 10.8.4, Aperture 3.45, still will not update. I tried 'in-app", but all roads lead to the app store.
I'm hopeful of discovering a manual method, or perhaps Apple will get the App store sorted, so still standing by.

Nov 8, 2013 8:07 PM in response to MichaelHundby cfn3,After a working with several customer service representatives, a couple of Senior Advisers, and a guy from the Pro Apps department was finally able to get Aperture working. I was upgrading from Lion (which handled updates through Software Update) to Mavericks (which handles updates through the App Store). The App Store is designed to automatically detect legacy installed software and mark it as installed software in the App Store, thus allowing you to update through the App Store. But for some reason that wasn't occuring for Aperture.
The various CS representatives/advisors had me try the following:
1. find other Apple ID(s)
2. sign out of the App Store and then back in
3. create a new user on my computer and then sign into the App Store under the new account
4. sign into the App Store on a completely different computer
5. backup the computer, delete Aperture, then resture Aperture
After trying each of these things, the App Store listed an available update for Aperture, said Aperture was purchsed with a different AppleID, and didn't list Aperture in Purchases. After escalating the problem to Pro Apps, they finally decided to have me delete my existing copy Aperture and then download the new version from the App Store using a redemption code that they gave me. I have the latest version of Aperture installed and it shows up as a purchase on all devices associated with that Apple ID.
The guy from the Pro Apps department told me that the problem I encountered was a known issue, though I don't know if it applies to anything other than Pro Apps. Hope you guys get your problems figured out!
