Q: Info tab does not show in iTunes 11.1.2 in iPad sync window

I have OS 10.9 on my iMac, iOS 7.0.3 on my iPad, and I'm using iTunes 11.1.2 . I had only one problem syncing my iPad with the iTunes--the info tab does not show in the sync window. Has the method of syncing calendars changed? How can I do this

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I found the following in another discussion thread:

If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com. (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12117)

Since I do not use cloud computing for security reasons, I will not be syncing my contacts or calendars between devices. I hope the Apple developers rethink this strategy. Meanwhile I'll figure out a work-around as I have in the past when software has an unfortunate glitch.

I confirmed this morning with a senior-level tech that wifi and USB sync has been removed. Going forward, syncing will be iCloud only.

For myself, this is an unfortunate deal-breaker for Mavericks. It's a shame, Mavericks seemed a very good update.

Then why does iTunes still say backup to computer, as an option. Why would only part of it be moved. I agree.. poor design choice on Apple's part.

I wouldn't call it a strategy when your iCloud doesn't work and you force customers to it.  That's a recipe for customer disappointment and abandonment.

We had a situation last year where an iPad OS update wiped out our calendars on all devices...via iCloud.  Apple Support couldn't use any of our iPhone backups or Macbook pro backups to get our calendar back.  So for me, being forced to use iCloud is like being forced to seriously consider leaving Apple altogether.

They really need to consider restoring usb and wifi synch for users who prefer it and stop forcing us down some grand path to use an iCloud that isn't guaranteed to work.

This is similar to Adobe's move to cloud computing. I am unwilling to make that move so if it means no more software updates, I'll use their CS6 as long as possible. KMM

I feel similarly. How if you take advantage of Adobe's Lightroom/photoshop offer the price is better than the normal upgrade path. $10/mo the whole lack of choice thing ****** me off but now that I have switch I am digging it. And I had never used Lightroom. I used Aperture. Just a thought. If your interested Google Creative Layer to find the deal. Good until Dec 31. I believe.

Btw. Backing up the phone to the computer is still an option in the phones operating system.

Unfortunately for my experience, we had multiple backup files but Apple Support was unable to actually use any of them to restore our calendar.  I went back to using iCloud last night and am hoping I don't have another disaster.

I can not believe this! After I updated to maverics and was so sure about quality of the software I realized that I can not sync my iphone through itunes anymore. But that was one of the reasons I like iphone. I dont understand why they are forcing us to use icloud only? It should be an option.

huge dissapointment from apple!!!! I am so angry I would change all my apple devices if they dont find a solution soon

Kom13, You said it well though I would't leave Apple over it I am certainly disappointed! Both with Maverick so far and also with apparently being forced to use the cloud. In past I had numerous problems with cloud and never establish a level of confidence in it that I require. Feels like that I am being manipulated by Apple to use something THEY wants used not what I want to use.

The only good news, at least I haven't gone crazy. I thought I had for moment when I couldn't sync with then couldn't find info tab in Itunes.

Still can't get dam notes to sync right, now I have to worry about calendar? My calendar is vital to me and must be correct!

OKay just as I thought HORRIBLE cloud. So instead of a simple sync between my devices this morning I am now sitting with " moving calendars to server account " forever. Apple I have things to do besides playing with the cloud!!! Hate when they FIX what isn't broke! In concept lovely update one device and via the Cloud all update, when it works. Should have left BOTH options, cloud or manually updatye via Itunes.

Yes, that's what I ran into as well.  I found a post where someone fixed that problem by force quitting Calendar, then deselect Calendar and Reminder synch to iCloud, then go back into Calendar and add a new calendar selecting the iCloud.  That fixes the calendar after a few minutes.  Then go into Reminders and add new reminders and select iCloud.  That seems to resolve the server sync error.  Good luck!  It's starting to look a lot like Microsoft Windows in Appleland.
