Oct 24, 2013 9:46 AM in response to john3cdpby K T,Yes, there appear to be issues with some non-standard fonts.
And while there is no formal bug reporting method similar to what devs have w/apps, iBA does have a 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item. You may want to use it, thanks.

unclear at this stage whether it is related to iBA 2.1.
All my tests indicate iBA 2.1 does not embed fonts. So far no one has given me the name of one that it will embed.

Oct 24, 2013 11:49 PM in response to john3cdpby dn1161,Hi have the same problem, but my fonts are only dropped when previewing my book on my ipad. When I preview the book on my iMac I dont have a problem, everything shows up fine. I only encountered this problem after downloading Mavericks OS a couple of days back, not sure if this is connected.

These fonts will work - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4980
But many more fonts worked in iBA 2.0 - there is a bug in the new iBA 2.1

Oct 25, 2013 1:48 AM in response to dn1161by john3cdp,dn1161: I'm still on Mountain Lion 10.8.5 so cannot yet view iBooks on my Mac, so obviously not purely related to Mavericks. This does appear to be an iBA 2.1 issue, as confirmed by others on this thread.
Thanks to all for your confirmations. As suggested by K T, I have reported this issue to Apple via the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item. I would suggest everyone who has this problem do the same and *hopefully* someone at Apple will listen and provide a fix soon.

Preview to iPad not showing embedded fonts has been reported various times before. It is not reliable. If you export your file to .ibooks format and send it to your iPad and fonts are not embedded, that is a problem with iBA 2.1, Mavericks is irrelevant, it happens with 10.7 as well.

Yes, those fonts are present on the iPad and are never embedded by iBA. If someone has the name of a font which is not on that list and which does get embedded with iBA 2.1 I would be very interested in that.

Oct 25, 2013 6:56 AM in response to Tom Geweckeby dbh-TalkingNewMedia,Any irregular font no longer works on the iPad - but is fine on the Mac.
I assume that would mean that the problem lies with either iOS 7 or the iBooks app for iOS, right?

Oct 25, 2013 7:21 AM in response to dbh-TalkingNewMediaby dbh-TalkingNewMedia,OK, I messed up. The only reason it looks OK on the Mac is because you have that font installed. If you disable the font then it won't work on your Mac either. Definitely an IBA problem then.

Oct 25, 2013 10:17 AM in response to john3cdpby MaciPad,Mac with Mountain Lion:
You need to remove iBA 2.1 from your Mac and replace it with 2.0. This is no problem if you have backup such as Time Machine. Just find the iBA 2.0 app, copy it to your desktop and then put it in your app folder.
But iBA 2.1 might also have corrupted all your iBA files! If so, you need to find the latest backup copies before you installed iBA 2.1.
I did this and now the fonts are embedded correctly. The book looks normal on iPad again.
Q: Does anyone know if iBA 2.0 runs om Mavericks? If it doesn't you are stuck until Apple fixes this bug.
