iMessage won't work since installing iOS 7.0.2  and it worked fine brief ore the upgrade. I've tried resetting the network. Also called Sprint and they said it was an Apple problem. Any suggestions? I work with others that use iMessage and They don't  receive my  texts. Most of my friends also have iPhone's. I have the iPhone 4S. Thanks

Apple is aware of the issue and is expected to release 7.0.3 next week to address iMessage issues.

In the meantime I have found that a good old fashion reset cures it for a while.

Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)

You can also disable iMessage until it is resolved:
Settings > Messages > toggle iMessage to off

Others have had success with this:

    1. Turn off iMessage in Settings > Messages

    2. Reset networking settings in Settings > General > Reset

    3. Reenable iMessage in Settings > Messages

Note: This will clear all wifi passwords.

This reset isn't even working 20 minutes. Unacceptabe. When my contract expires in a few months, this will have been the last straw for me. Back to the Windows realm for phones.

I have the same problem. I deleted the message thread, rebooted my phone. It worked for one message and then failed again.

My workaround until they fix the software is this: double-tap the message which is hung up and won't send. It will give you the option to send as SMS. I select that option. The text turns green and is sent to the recipient with no problem. Not ideal, but quicker than any of the other solutions.

Reset Network Settings has sadly not worked for me.  Restarting the phone has not worked for me either.  I do appreciate all of the suggestions, though.

I am unable to send SMS Text Messages to non-iphone-users.  I am unable to send iMessages.

    Nothing is sending successfully.

The progress bar for the sending process gets stuck at the end and eventually I get a notification that the message has failed.

I have updated iOS7 with all available updates.  My phone is an iPhone 4.

iOS 7.0.3 was released on Tuesday to address iMessage issues. Have you updated?

Yes, I have updated to version 7.0.3, but it did not fix my messaging problems.  I don't know if that is because I am using an older model (iPhone 4).

Have you tried this since updating?

    1. Turn off iMessage in Settings > Messages

    2. Reset networking settings in Settings > General > Reset

    3. Reenable iMessage in Settings > Messages

Note: This will clear all wifi passwords.

    How about resetting?

Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)

Yes, as I said in my initial post, I have tried both of these suggestions.  I have tried them many times before and after the lastest update and tried them again one extra time before posting my problem.  They have not fixed anything.

Does iMessage actually activate or is it stuck at activation?

iMessages activates in the Settings without any trouble.

As an interesting twist, while I have been unable to send an SMS Text Message to one of my contacts all morning long, I was just now able to successfully send responses to an SMS Text Message she sent to me.

This suddenly working again thing has happened before, but it has always reverted back to not working again.

Since the spontaneous working again instance on October 25th, the problem came back again and resetting the phone multiple times fixed it.  Now it has come back AGAIN and I'm still trying to get Messages to work.  Ahah!  After resetting the phone twice, I am now able to send messages again.

So, the update that was supposed to fix everything... is not a full fix.  However, if you reset your phone over and over and over again, you can send messages ... sometimes.
