Q: OSX 10.9 maps are blank

Maps come up with just a blank gray area and no map

    Fixed, for me.

     

    Just changed the language order in preferences language & region.

    Seems like maps has bad behaivor with some languages.

    This fix worked for me as well. All I did was click on the language and maps popped up straight away. I did beforehand go into time and date and switch on wifi and then get the mac to find my location then switched it off.

     

    Gonna have a play with maps now to see it the wait was worth while.

    Spoke too soon. App still wants me to switch on my WiFi in order to find my location. My location is locked in Time & Date. I connect via LAN so will not be switching on my WiFi so will have to switch back to Google Maps. Oh dear Apple, I feel another update coming soon.

    It just need the wifi circuit on, not to change your internet connection. Wifi has some geoposition capability, but you keep the lan connection.

     

    Just answering yes to start wifi question, does the trick. Not need to change net connection.
