Q: sim staying locked in restore no place to type in sim code

Have done all the apple support

Resolution

Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:

  1. Restart the iPhone.
  2. Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
    • Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
    • Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
  3. Restore the iPhone.

If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

HAVE DONE ALL THIS.  THERE IS NO PLACE TO TYPE MY CODE INTO THE PHONE.  Have tried holding the home button down, turning onn and off, placing replacing sim, nothing.

ideas?

thanks

If I understand you correctly, your sim is locked with a sim pin, & you cannot enter it, correct? If so:

These are your choices: 1. Find a sim card that does not have a sim pin enabled, put that in your phone, activate your phone, then put your sim back in the phone & turn the sim pin off; 2. Put your sim in another phone & turn the sim pin off; 3. Get another sim from your carrier.

I have exactly the same problem (iOS 7.03, iPhone4) - I agree with you about the choices available.

That said, it seems very strange to me that there is no other solution - this does not seem to me to be a rare or exotic thing to want to do (restoring an iPhone with a sim card with a pin).  Is it a bug iOS7 or has this never worked ?
