Q: I have an iPhone 4s and all incoming calls go straight to voice mail without ringing.  Any ideas for a solution?

Has anyone had the problem of all incoming calls going straight to voice mail with the phone ringing?

    Hi donlin,

So you have your "Do Not Disturb" turned on? Do you see a little crecent moon in the upper right-hand side of the status bar on your phone?

    Cheers,

Do Not Disturb is turned "OFF".   My post should have read going to voice mail WITHOUT the phone ever ringing.   Took it to Sprint and they performed a reload and it did not help.

    Hi donlin,

I did read your post as "not" ringing....(guess the mind supplies what is not there!)

Try resetting your phone (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). See if that fixes the issue.

Also, do you use "Do Not Disturb"? If you do, then maybe something needs to be toggled there - turn it off and back on a couple of times....(can't hurt).

If those do not resolve the issue, then see if you can think of any changes that were done to the phone around the time this occurred. Any new apps added? If so, remove them and see what happens.

Post back if the issue persists, and we will see if anyone else has any insight to it.

    Best of luck!

I think I am becoming brain dead on this phone issue.  I cannot remember where to find "home".   I have looked and looked and remember, I think, seeing it before but cannot remember where.   I have never used "Do Not Disturb" and last night I did reset my phone to a backup which was a couple weeks old but that did not help.   I started having problems about the same time my mother-in-law was in intensive care (Wednesday of this week) from a fall and after she passed away Friday morning I was asked by several why my phone was going straight to voice mail.   I now remember not receiving any calls for several days and the only change during this period was an iCloud update.   Thanks for all your help to this point.

    Hi donlin,

I am so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. It is heartbreaking to lose someone so close. My heartfelt condolences.

The Home button is the round one that you press on the bottom front of the phone. The Power button is the one on the top of the phone on the right. Press both of them at the same time to do the reset. Don't release them until the Silver Apple appears (that should normally take 10-15 seconds but can take a bit longer - don't release them too soon).

Once you have released them, just let the phone reset. Once it is done, the Home screen will redisplay. Then see if the problem has been resolved.

When you say an iCloud update, not sure what you are referring to? Let's try the reset first, and if that doesn't work, we can delve a little further into this question.

I was so hoping it would work and tried it three times.    The first time I held it down for several seconds AFTER the silver apple disappeared and then let off near the end of the apple and the third time was abot 3-4 seconds after the apple appeared but regrettably nothing changed.   Sprint did a complete reboot which took about 90 minutes or so I was told and it did not help.    The phone was purchased in August 2012 so sure would like for it to last another 10 months but may have to get a used one.

Well, here's the next thing you can try. I took a look at past posts, and this seemed to fix it for another poster. You want to try to do a Restore from Backup. You can do this either in iCloud or via iTunes. Here is a support article with step by step instructions for both. You can do it either way, but just make sure you back up the phone before you restore it!

Best of luck! Hoping this will work for you so you don't have to get a replacement!

Sorry I did not get back with you but am still having issues with Sprint.   After 4 visits to their service center, they told me my phone was "fried" and would have to either buy a rebuilt iPhone 4s for $199. plus tax or a new iPhone for $549.   I opted for the rebuilt and after it arrivewd and activated I had the same problem.   I had actually sent off and let them have a perfectly good phone for all it took was for them to refresh their signal and everything was fine.   They are refusing to do anything as they say it was MY decision to go rebuilt and trade in my phone but it was only after they said my phone was "fried" and had no other choice.   They first said they had never heard of the problem but one of their employees later told me they have had a lot of this same problem including on of their own employees.   They could have refreshed the signal on my first visit for they knew what the problem was but they wanted to sell a new or rebuilt phone.   Lots of time and aggrivation so I doubt I will be returning to Sprint for my contract renewal.   My entire family have been Sprint customers for 10+ years but we will all be moving when our contracts expire.

Here's how I solved it — I have Verizon, so it may be slightly different if you don't:

    1. Go to Settings then to

    2. Phone>Verizon Sevices>Call Forwarding Disable (press on this and let it "call" — it will dial *73.

This worked for me — hope it does for you!

Worked for Sprint iPhone after sweeping the leg. Opps... I meant after entering *720. Thank you, Sensei Russ.

I had a similar problem, tried all this, looked at another discussion group and found a very simple solution:

Is the silent switch on the side of the iphone on?

    This worked immediately!!

I had the same problem . i tried to reset and it didnt work. The way i fixed mine on 4s was to go into settings, then to do not disturb, then  turn manual off if on, and it fixed mine. the little half moon symbol was gone off my home screen. I hope this helps.

Turning off the 'Do Not Disturb' under settings worked for me. It seems to me my alarm is changing random things in under Settings. I have had my screen dimmed and other funny things happen that I know I did not change. I think I will have to quit using the alarm on my phone...
