Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try these steps if you're seeing an error when downloading OS X Mavericks:
Mac App Store: "An unknown error occurred (100)" when purchasing
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3637
Try the following steps to work around this issue:
- Quit App Store.
- Wait 10 seconds or more.
- Open App Store again.
- Navigate to the desired app.
- Click Buy.
If the issue persists, try restarting your computer and attempting the app purchase again.

I have exactly the same issue. Closing and restarting the App Store and restarting both take me back to the same less than helpful 'An error has occurred' message. I have no problems with the Mac App Store apart from this. Can you suggest a next move? I'm running a mid-2007 iMac.
