Dec 8, 2013 12:56 PM in response to ikemitsuby FranckG,★HelpfulI've found the answer here: http://osxnotes.net/defaults.html.
The new command to type in Terminal is:
defaults write -g NSTextInsertionPointBlinkPeriodOn -float 999999999999Works for me in Mavericks.

Dec 8, 2013 1:27 PM in response to FranckGby ikemitsu,Thanks a thousand! Saves my day partly. This works for me at least in Messages but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in Mail. I wonder if it's possible to define for Mail separately?

Dec 8, 2013 1:51 PM in response to ikemitsuby ikemitsu, defaults write com.apple.Mail NSTextInsertionPointBlinkPeriodOff -float 0
or
defaults write com.apple.Mail NSTextInsertionPointBlinkPeriodOn -float 999999999999
don't have an effect however. I'm not sure if I have the correct app domain name.

Dec 8, 2013 3:16 PM in response to ikemitsuby FranckG,The app domain name is com.apple.mail, without the capital letter. I think case is important in this, well, case... But I fear this won't work either, like stated in this thread: http://superuser.com/questions/466660/how-to-disable-blinking-caret-when-editing -text-in-os-x.
