Oct 5, 2013 4:17 AM in response to mikel31556by annab9211,I have had exactly the same problem with my 5S. My phone was replaced yesterday with a new one as a firmware reset in the apple store made no difference. The new phone is also unreliable, but less so than the first one.

Oct 13, 2013 10:40 AM in response to annab9211by gozrula,I too have TouchID problems. Apple has already exchanged my phone for a new one and I still have the same problem. After about two days or less, stops recognizing fingerprint data. In an attempt to ease access I stored five versions of my same thumb print at slightly different positions. Didn't seem to help much. Seems the stored finger data drains, gets corrupted and stops working.
I suspect it's a problem in the A7 register holding the data.
The earlier comment regarding live with the problem until later phone builds are in circulation and the exchange under warranty may be the only answer. Or just disable and live with it.

Oct 13, 2013 12:55 PM in response to gozrulaby annab9211,I agree but somehow I gave come to expect much better than this from Apple. For $1000 (Aus$) or less worldwide, it should work. Apple should also acknowledge the problem but I know that is not likely.

Oct 17, 2013 7:32 PM in response to Xtabiby Coolgirl2,I got my 3rd iPhone 5s today... Fingerprint works fine the first few hours then rarely, if ever! I, too, will reset it and it will work for awhile and then stop after 10-24 hours... It makes me wonder if an app or some configuration is conflicting!?! Why should it work awhile and then stop, while others I talk to, theirs work 99% of the time!

Oct 27, 2013 12:39 PM in response to Xtabiby LVPhoto,Same here- Fingerprint ID set-up: no problem. Use it for several days: no problem. After two to three day: doesn't recognize my print. Re-calibrate fingerprint: works fine, for several days. Then same problem develops.
This is my second iphone 5S, and i've just ordered one for my wife, now I'm undecided.
Please fix.
Thank you
Mike

Nov 11, 2013 1:55 PM in response to annab9211by brysonfromky,I'm surprised to hear of this issue.. I have had my phone for a few weeks and the phone rarely doesn't read my print.. I had noticed I must not have recorded enough angles, as the left side of my thumb wasn't working. I know this sounds stupid, but have you added more finger prints and hit every angle of the fingers you are going to be using? My phone is working great.. Maybe I got lucky I'm not sure.. I would definitely add two or three finger prints and it may solve your problem..

Nov 11, 2013 7:09 PM in response to annab9211by Flaa,I have the same problem. Fingerprint ID set up works initially but within 3 hours it doesn't recognize my print.
It doesn't matter what finger I use. It doesn't matter how many times I reset. I have already replaced the phone and I have the same problem with the second one.

Nov 15, 2013 7:43 AM in response to Xtabiby djaysteven, same problem here, reset.. works like a charm.. couple days max and stops working, rarely still works but seems the longer i wait to reset prints the worse it gets.. hope they come with a fix soon.. heard something about the sensor "learning" your print better over time.. that might work the other way around for some people?!
the sensor was the only real reason upgrading from the 5 so I'm disappointed :((

Dec 6, 2013 9:03 AM in response to Xtabiby Asmith9141,I was having ongoing problems - it would last for a day, then fade out working but by bit. I tried having multiple thumbprints, 1 thumbprint, all kinds of combos. I finally backed up my phone to itunes and then restored it. I was told this would "shuffle around" the software. It seems to be working better now. Time will tell.
The most frustrating part was, walking into the apple store, knowing well that many people are having this problem, Apple employees played dumb, said they'd never heard of the problem, and that THEIR personal phone was working fine. A pretty poor approach.

Dec 17, 2013 10:46 AM in response to Xtabiby ADR1AND,Having exactly the same promlem as the majority of the people here; quite dissappointed. I can reset the thumbprint and it will work for a few hours at most and then completely stop by the next day.
Hope this is software related and can be fixed in an upcomming patch from Apple.
Cheers.
