Me, too. I have Office:mac 2011 Home & Student, which is the latest version offered. Installed Mavericks yesterday, now no Office programs will open. I downloaded and installed the latest update to Office (even though I think I had already installed that update), that didn't work. Downloaded and installed the entire Office package again, still no change. Programs start to open, but get stuck and I have to force them to quit.

Hello, I have similar problem. After updating to Mavericks I can't open Microsoft Word. I get this messeage:

Excel works fine. If anyone has an idea what to do I would be glad.

Solved the crashes by manually applying again the latest update. No need to re-install MS Office. Just grab the latest update here and apply it:

@ sberman and CF McBlob:
You missed the point. Some users have already the latest update installed, so checking for new updates does not help. They must download and manually install it again for Office to behave again. At least, it worked for me this way.

Hi, maybe the following theread will help you.
Check my post in
Shortly, (after tons of tries) the problem is solved with FontNuke.app.
Just deleting font is not enough. Deleting font caches must be done.
Hope this works for you.
