Can I take my son's iPhone 4S to the Apple store while he's in the US?

In January 2013 my son bought an iPhone 4S. The screen started playing up with it so last month he ordered a 5s as he's traveling to the US and wanted a working phone. (We're based in the UK).

He passed the 4S onto my daughter but the screen has now gone completely blank. When we power the phone on, we can see something happening around the edges of the screen, but the display never turns on. When we plug in the cable, we can hear the beep, so it seems as if the phone is working but just not displaying anything.

I'd like to take my daughter (she's 15) to the Apple store in London's Regent Street (nearest one to me) to see if they can either repair or replace the phone as it still has 3 months warranty on it.

QUESTION: Will the Apple store help us if we take the phone at some point over the next couple of days? The phone is still registered on my son's Apple account, but he's in the US for the next 3 weeks so he obviously wont be able to come with me and my daughter. We have the same address and surname, etc. if that will make them more likely to help us.

Any ideas? I just want to avoid a wasted trip if you all think they will only see him.
