Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks with Safari 7.0, my cursor is not functioning properly in integrated console windows. My main issue is working in Codecademy. If I am typing in anything in the console, then need to go back and edit something, the cursor wont go to the right location. If I select a particular word or letter and try deleting or backspacing, it deletes 2-3 characters to the left of where the cursor actually is. Same thing happens if I just click somewhere further back once in the text, rather than actually selecting something. The blinking cursor appears right where I click, but if I press backspace or try to type new text, it does it a few characters to the left of where the cursor is. It's making it near impossible to type and edit my code, and this issue has never happened before.

I do not experience this issue in chrome or firefox for mac.

I have this exact same issue to but in Mac Mail. @SoundChaos can you maybe apend your subject line to include Mail so I don't have to start a new discussion because maybe its the same/bigger system issue? Thanks.

I too am experiencing this same issue. If I try to edit anything in the Safari browser window when working on custom CSS for Wordpress the cursor lands about three spaces away from the part of teh etxt that I am supposed to be editing, and is making anything I am trying to do impossible. I wondered if it was something to do with the spacing that the code formatting uses. Either way it has made it completely unusable.

I have switched to Chrome for the meantime, but that's not a solution to the actual issue with Safari. i have read advice to boot up in safe mode and then back into normal mode, but this did nothing.

Yes! That is exactly what is going on, but you described it even better... I've tried everything I can think of and it doesn't help at all. I've also been forced to use chrome full time, which is sad. I much prefer safari's extensions and interface, and I really wish it was possible to use it.

Same issue in Safari. Chrome appears to work. This could be an related to the Ace editor used by Codecademy.
