It seems that Apple have applied the same strategy to their iWorks suite.

Forums are on fire with complaints that Apple has removed key features in the so called "upgrade".  Many are describing the iWorks upgrade as dumbing down the interface for iPad users yet forgetting its desktop users.

This is exactly the same strategy that has resulted in the current awful version of iTunes.

I too am terribly disappointed in Apple, it almost seems like some Windows programmers has infiltrated the company sheesh! And I have always been one promoting the new iphone V around the office (inspired some to buy the new ipad) and now just have to keep quiet very embarrassing for one of my favored company's. I have many Apple products and considering converting PC to Apple since that Windows 8 debacle with the new desktop UI. You know it's almost like company's do not know when they have it good and have forgotten how to implement Beta testing and courtesy to loyal followings.

Ashamed to say it but strongly considering Linux and Android as alternatives. I am still not sure how to revert my ipads and iphones back --- may just give up and sell on ebay or something---- currently cannot play videos in landscape most apps used to rotate do not now and itunes just cuts off when closing screen and the same goes for the iphone ---- is this your beta testing hmmmm very poor customer service.

they could make it simple where u just copy/drag what u want and delete what u dont want, but they have to try to be cool by making complicated to use

Itunes is brutal.  its clunky, so much harder to use than it needs to be, hard to navigate, can't just play songs you want.  Its odd that they're usuall better at simplifying things but in itunes case it just adds layers of needless actions to play the songs you want.  Can't stand it.

Itunes made me not an Apple fan anymore. I have been an iPhone user since 2007 when the first one came out. But recently iTunes has become TOO HARD to use. I recently dumped my family's 5 iPhone 4, 4s and 5's because no one in the family could figure it out. Once you finally get some songs on the phone you just want to leave it alone and not mess with it anymore.

Every 3 months, they change how it all works. It's like a new version of Windows except, every 3 months. You have to go in, figure out what it doesn't do anymore, where they have moved the things you did know how to use and it's become way too much of a hassle.

They USB cable, drag and drop feature is now what I want. I guess it will be the Nexus 5 from now on. It's the reasonably priced phone Apple was supposed to come out with this time and didn't. The Android apps are not written quite as well, but they work and I use music 10 times more than apps.

I see why they are keeping the price of the phones high because regular people who are not able to figure out iTunes , are leaving.

I was so happy when I discovered I could downgrade to iTunes 10, but now with the new ios and new idevices, they finally killed that loophole with "incompatibility".  So back to iTunes 11, which as many have agreed is really terrible for several reasons.  The dumbing down makes it hard to use, its not intuitive - and who in their right mind would think the left sidebar should be "optional" and not the default!  Jobs would have left it alone or actually improved it.  Their decision making and insensitivity to feedback (such as, for example, just this one mile-long compaint), now is in question to the point where Apple could start to lose their pants.    Hello Apple?  Hello Apple?...........?....

While I am not sticking up for Apple in any way shape or form on this matter of crappy iTunes. You need to understand one thing. There is too much busy-work and job justification borne out of the need to change things for change's sake. This is an industry wide problem. Its happening with Windows, iOS, office suites, individual applications big and small alike.. everywhere.

Companies are incorrectly believing that changing something is a good thing regardless if you already have something that works great or not. Just change it and see if you get more profits. No other reasons.

Worse still is those companies are not paying attention to the customer. I can't think of a better way to insult someone than to make them feel irrelevant.

Bet hey, who am I to say anything? I just don't upgrade my products unless I can be happy. And I ain't all that happy right now.

Keith - you hit it on the head - people in Apple trying to justify salaries by changing things for no good reason. OS7 is another example - pointless changes which have just made many users confused and angry.

The iWork upgrade does not remove the previous version, you get both and can use whichever you wish.

So it does.  Thanks for pointing that out.  After a bit of searching which I would not have done normally, I found a new directory called iWork9.

It is a good but strange thing to do really.  It's an admision that the new version is different enough from the old one, that you better hang onto the old one.

It says a lot when they remove posts because they say they are negative and do not add to the topic. Well Apple perhaps you should take note of all of the negative comments towards your products. It might help if you add pop up boxes when you place the cursor over a menu or menu item. At the moment you have to scroll through the help menus to find out how to carry out the simplest of tasks. One particularly annoying part of the iTunes is when you do a search for a particular song. If you click on one of the songs to find out info it adds the song to a play list and erases the search, so if it is not the song you are looking for you have to type in the search again, there is no drop down list of previous searches, in fact the right click seems to be obsolete. It is not very user friendly. It has definitely gone backwards as far as the user is concerned. There you go Apple, now can you go fix this part.

Then don't use it, you are not obliged to, it was your choice. So change it.
