Q: Mavericks Mail app and Gmail Drafts folder

After installing Mavericks I'm unable to unselect "Store draft messages on the server" and "Store sent messages on the server" checkboxes under my Gmail accounts settings. Unselecting both checkboxes and saving settings works for up to a minute or so - after that the check marks re-appear again by themselves. As a result I end up with dozens of half-finished drafts in the Trash folder after I finish the original and send it out.

I used to have both checkboxes unselected prior to Mavericks, and everything was working fine.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Steve's workaround worked for me too. Next issue to solve: I'm used to archive my mails in mail.app by pressing the delete key. Think now under Mavericks that delete's the message and doesn't archive. Any solutions?

Add the archive button to the toolbar.

BTW steves's fix worked for me as well. Thanks!

Well as the solution suggested from Steve is more of a workaround, today I stumbled upon the real solution.

Simply remove the account from preferecnes and re-add it to Mail.
This set's up it the account properly from scratch and also connects the Sent, Drafts, Trash folders to their respective folders in mail.app and finaly you can disable the store drafts on server!

Only downside is that you need to re-download everything from the server.

As I am using IMAP and store everything on the server this works perfectly. If you are using POP and if for some reason you don't store mails on the server this could erase your mail so be carefull!

By preferences do you mean: com.apple.mail.plist or plain remove it?

All my contacts are jacked. I can no longer drag an drop my contacts either..... Not good. I have mailings to do. What the heck is happeing apple. No drag and drop... really. what happend to simplicity.

The solution suggested by ixor3d doesn't work.

One of the numerous issues with this OS upgrade from Apple, making my MacBook an absolute pain to work with when before it was running smoothly.

I think the phrase "you get what you pay for" applies to these free updates from Apple. It even tried to install Apple's junk office apps without even asking me first....

I'm using a mix of Sparrow and AirMail and the Gmail web interface until this is fixed and I can pick up Mail.app again.
