I broke my 3rd gen. iPad, if I have the guaranty, will I get the new one when I change it?

No warranty covers breakages.  Apple will sell you an out of warranty replacement, for a reasonable fraction of the retail price.

The iPad warranty does not cover accidental damage. There is an out of warranty replacement program where Apple will exchange your product for a fee that depends on the model and type of iPad you have. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Not sure what warranty your school might have. If it is with Apple then you will most likely have your iPad replaced with an identical iPad to the one you have. If it is with a third party, not Apple, contact the insurance company to learn what options are available.
