Q: Retina Macbook Pro WiFi and Bluetooth issue

Hey all,

i'd be really thankful for some info on the following issue :

i've got a Retina Macbook Pro and a Bluetooth Sound System from Logitech. The System connects to Macbook via Bluetooth which always works fine. Connecting to internet via WiFi works fine as well. The problem occurs when i use both WiFi and Bluetooth simultaneously : there seems to be some kind of interference, which makes my internet either go down completely or become very slow. This issue is not that nasty, but I'd expect a $2300 machine to work perfectly. So my question is : is this problem known for all of new Retina Macbooks or is it just my unit? In case it's just my unit, i'd still have a chance of exchanging it for a new one. But i'd like to know for sure where this problems comes from. I'd also be very thankful for every other solution you can think of.

Thanks in advance

    Good morning,

I'm wondering, if this problem still exists in 10.9 betas? Did anyone following this discussion had the chance to test it? I'm still hoping it's an 10.8 software issue. Because some people didn't experience this problem when running - this don't come easy - Windows... ;)

Anyone who may actually know the answer is not allowed to post it here as they would be in violation of their NDA - not until after the OS is released.

    Good morning babowa,

you're right. I was just curious if we can use Bluetooth an WiFi at the same time in the future. A simple "Yes" or "No" regarding this issue was all I was looking for. NDA is ok for upcomimg features but my question only aimed at a bug.

Anyone notice if OS X 10.8.5 released today has resolved the issue?

Even Mavericks has not helped. Sorry. Setting to 5GHz did not help, but how would I know if I refuse to call it a different name from my 2.4 GHZ?

I bought the 2013 Macbook Air and ran into this issue.  With Bluetooth on and peripherals attached, the WiFi connection was crippled.  In Clamshell mode it would not work at all.  So I returned that one and waited (several months) for the new Retina notebooks to come out on October 22nd with Mavericks.  I am completely dissapointed to report that I am experiencing the same issue with this computer (13" RMBP 256gb, 8gb).  Normal internet browsing is nearly impossible with my Apple trackpad and keyboard connected via Bluetooth.  With no ethernet ports on these computers I find that there is no way around this.

    computerconfuser,

What Bluetooth peripherals are you using ? ( other than the Apple Keyboard and trackpad). How far away from the wireless router are you sitting at ?

I am a couple rooms over from the router.  The computer is showing full signal strength and the computer works very well when nothing is attached Via bluetooth.  It is just the Apple Trackpad and Apple wireless keyboard that I have connected.

    Good evening,

that's exactly what I'm experiencing even with an Apple Router (TC 4th Gen.). I've given up hope for an fix. The only thing I noticed is, if I'm on 5GHz WiFi, starting the rMBP with Bluetooth switched on it sometimes works. But since 5GHz is only available next to the Time Capsule it's not a pratical solution.

The Joke is: The WiFi/Bluetooth-hassle is completely gone when using Windows in Bootcamp... It is ridiculous!

    Have a nice weekend

    Dom
