Q: Call Blocking Not Working on iPhone?

I get a few spam calls to my iPhone 4S running 7.0.3. I created a contact called "SPAM" and set it to Blocked.

And the calls still ring from that contact. I know because the caller ID shows my "SPAM' contact info.

So what's the purpose of blocking, again?

Maybe I am doing something wrong. (perhaps the contact to be blocked can only have one phone number in it?)

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.3

Note that the "SPAM" contact currently has three phone numbers in it. That's what I used to do in google voice -- just keep adding phone numbers to the same contact to block it. Maybe that doesn't work here?

I haven't finished reading yet, but it may be that if you have multiple numbers for a contact that you have to block each number, not just the contact themselves. I am trying to find an answer on that.

EDIT: According to this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5845 it seems that you block the contact. It does not address whether it blocks multiple numbers on the same contact. Have you tried unblocking and then blocking the contact again. I just wonder that once you make edits to the contact by adding additional numbers if the blocking does not understand that without the contact block being toggled off/on or a reset on the phone to re-register the new contact info. Can you try those things?

Thanks for that document, Chris. It sounds like about what I figured.

I also realized just now that I can simply block the phone number from my "Recents" screen in the Phone app. I don't have to create a separate contact for it. So I will break out the number that has been ringing and try blocking it on its own instead of part of the contact.

I'll make a note here later in the week to mention how it worked.

I have the same problem too!  It has not been working since I upgraded it to iOS 7.0.3!

    --> It WAS WORKING before!

Anyone knows how we can report bugs to Apple?

All feedback to Apple goes here: www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link. Bugs is one choice.

I'm having the exact same issue. Created contact name "**** Telmarketer" with 8 diffent numbers and yet my phone still rings twice a day!

    ytonic, did your solution work?

I have the same issue. Has there been any resolution to this, or response from Apple?

No fix - I'm wondering if this will work. Instead of creating a contact with a long list of numbers, block with just one contact for each number or no contact name at all.

Unless these telmarketers knows how to bypass the block.

I think one telemarketer finally stopped calling after constantly cursing them out everytime they call. I won't hold my breath though....

Trying unblocking and then re-blocking the contact.

It's worth it to register your number at donotcall.gov. It may take up to 30 days but once there, it's on the list for life. If the callers still won't stop, you can report them to the FCC.
