Oct 29, 2013 3:52 PM in response to sufficientchampagneby davshirley,Well if they contacted you by a phone number that you have connected to your icloud account, that might be ok. I can't think of a quick way that information could be exposed to outsiders but it is always a possibility. As long as the data is collected via something built into the OS and SENT VIA A BUILT IN MECHANISM then you have a reasonable expectation of being safe. If they ask you to email the report to someplace, then it is almost certainly a scam.

It was a legit call from austin texas to Portugal :)
During the call three emails where sent to me, at different stages, all with https links back to Apple.com (I checked them before clicking ;) )
But thanks for your concern. Social hacking is very common these days. You've got to be very careful with your trust.
Hope NSA didn't record my rusty spoken English :)))

They probably did. Since Portugal produces some of the best wine corks in the world, that makes them strategically important!

Oct 29, 2013 5:14 PM in response to davshirleyby Drewbee,Apple seriously needs to fix this. It's just ridiculous how screwed up my Mac is now.
Wish I never upgraded to Mavericks. I've seen very few improvements relative to the problems it's caused.

Nov 4, 2013 2:19 AM in response to Andres Hidalgoby Paulo Carrasco,I've solved my iMessage/Facetime problem. This is the solution I've posted in another discussion.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/23611187#23611187
This is the solution if you are getting errors like these logged in system.log (or similar certificate errors) :
25/10/13 21:56:12,674 apsd[66]: Failed to evaluate trust: No error. (0), result=5; retrying with revocation checking optional
25/10/13 21:56:12,681 apsd[66]: failed to evaluate trust: No error. (0), result=5; retrying with system roots
25/10/13 21:56:12,685 apsd[66]: Root certificate is not explicitly trusted
25/10/13 21:56:12,686 apsd[66]: Untrusted peer, closing connection immediately
WARNING: always do a backup before testing!

Nov 7, 2013 12:16 PM in response to Ralph Johns (UK)by jnuss,Just wanted to chime in that resetting my keychain solved my issues. The error I was getting in Messages was: "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." My console errors looked like this:

11/7/13 12:19:06.892 PM Messages[540]: [Warning] IMRemoveKeychainData: -67808 -- Could not remove data for service: IDS account: example@example.com-AuthToken
11/7/13 12:19:06.892 PM Messages[540]: [Warning] IMRemoveKeychainAuthToken: Could not remove auth token (error -67808)
Thanks to all.

Nov 9, 2013 8:37 AM in response to Andres Hidalgoby Caryn,So I have tried the following actions to get my iMessage up and running, but to no avail.
- I have changed my Apple ID password.
- Fixed my timezone and set in on auto.
- Reset my keychain.
- My serial number is listed on my computer, so I do not think that is the problem.
- I have made sure there is only one email account associated my my Apple ID and only one logged into iMessages.
I am not sure what else to do. Anyone have any suggestions?

Whilst all the other things you mention can also effect this, more people are reporting success with this action.
