    I'm in Scotland too

I've never been so disheartened and upset... I used to love iTunes because it always worked, and I'd spent some years building up those playlists.

No more.. I'm getting the Nexus 5 and (borrowing) an android device for my music in the mean time.

Here is the fix I used on my 4s and was finally able to sync all music and audio-books.  Hope this helps; I feel your pain...

So I just chatted online with an Apple employee and I may have a simple solution.

If you are still having a problem syncing music from your itunes to your iphone then try this. When your phone is plugged into your computer uncheck the sync music box in itunes and apply the change. Once it finishes syncing you should only have music that you purchased from itunes on your phone.

Now recheck the sync music box. During the syncing you will see the usual waiting for changes step last, but this time it should follow with all the music you chose to sync and it should start adding it all.

I know this sounds too simple to work, but it worked for me and I have tried a few suggestions in this thread unsuccessfully. Try it out and let us know if it works for you. It worked for me, thank the heavens! The best part is that I didn't need to uninstall iOS7 or restore my phone or any drastic actions.

    Good luck!

    Solution:

    1-Update Itunes

    2-Plugin iphone to computer

3-click on iPhone icone in upper right

4-click on music in the top menu bar

    5-check sync music

why fix something if its not broken? why change something so drastically and waste everyones time?

the iPhone is supposed to be a tool for our lives, we are not meant to be tools for Apple. But after this update, I feel like a TOOL!

Pretty simple, but I do not believe that solution is going to be the panacea for all .

I fixed this problem by unchecking "Sync Music", then running a sync, then re-checking "Sync Music".  Worked! I had tried MANY different things before this!

Brilliant! I could not figure out why my Playlist on my IMAC was not moving over to my 5S. I followed your advice and PRESTO, everything is as it should be

Did that, it balked a couple of times, then finally worked, I THINK.  It's syncing as I write this...  5,800 songs...

I have tried all these suggestions. It does start to sync but does not sync all my music.

    I have a playlist with 6300 songs.

In iTunes, it shows all songs synced, with nothing grayed out.

I go to my settings and it has only 5300 songs.

I go to the playlist, and yes, it is missing 1000 songs.

I never had this problem on iOS 6 or iTunes 10.

I have tried all of these suggestions several times without a solution.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Jim

I converted to Apple all those years ago because everyone said that, unlike Microsoft, these things, well "they just work." That is no longer the case. Samsung here I come...

It seems like Apple have decided it just dosn't want it's iPhone users to use them for storing and playing music with iOS7?

What with the changes to how you can create and edit playlists (not able to add all tracks in an album to a playlist? Who's idea was it to remove that?) and removing the ability to delete full albums from within Music on the iPhone itself....and now this mess with trying to sync up new music added to iTunes?

    FINAL SOLUTION:

After failing with all the above tips and many hours later, i can finally sync music. Here's how:

    Restore iPhone (not Restore Backup)

Make sure you do a backup first. (right click iphone under devices in itunes)

Basically it wipes everything and does a setup from new.

Contacts are automatically redownloaded. Messages are lost. Personal settings are lost.

Apps remain in iTunes and need to be installed on phone again. App login details and data are lost, but when you sign in to the app it remembers all your settings, so no big drama.

Resync music/photos etc.. and you are back to normal.
