Q: Home Sharing not working - iTunes 11.1.2 / iOS 7.0.3

For/If somebody who uses iTunes Home Sharing - has home sharing stopped working for you after updating to iTunes to 11.1.2 or OS X Mavericks? Both of those updates were released and applied on the same day. Before these two updates, it was working fine. Just trying to figure out which is possibly the problem and how to fix it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

BEFORE

OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5

iTunes 11.1 or 11.1.1

AFTER

OS X Mavericks

iTunes 11.1.2

Devices on the Network

(Device ... Operating System ... Network Connection Type)

Mac Mini ... OS X Mavericks 10.9 … Wired

MacBook Pro(MBP) ... OS X Mavericks 10.9 … Wi-Fi

iPhone 5 ... iOS 7.0.3 … Wi-Fi

iPhone 5 ... iOS 6.1.4 ... Wi-Fi

iPad 3rd Gen … iOS 7.0.2 ... Wi-Fi

The Home Sharing is still working fine between the OS X devices (Mac Mini and MBP). But none of the iOS devices detect either of the Home Sharing Libraries (Mac Mini and MBP library). Also, since all three iOS devices are running three different iOS versions, i dont believe it is not an iOS problem.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.3

I have 4 AppleTVs and None of them will connect to my HomeSharing since I have Updated iTunes to the Latest Version (iTunes v11.1.2) on my Windows 7 PC... There has been NO good advice posted to the Apple Support Community.

IPv6 has always been off on my router...

    Thanks, jc

I'm suddenly having the same problem here. Updated to Mavericks, iOS7, and the latest update for the Apple TV. I have all the exact same info input in iTunes, my iPod touch, and the Apple TV, but the Remote app on the iPod touch no longer sees the Apple TV and Apple TV no longer sees my computer.

    Steve! Come back!

My Apple TV sees my library - however, when I start streaming a movie, it drops the connection and returns back to the Apple TV home screen and says comptuers with home sharing turned on will appear, and within a minute or two, it does.  I begin the playback of a movie again, and the process repeats.  Same thing of updating to Mavericks, newest iTunes, newest Apple TV version.

I have the same issue, VERY annoyed HomeSharing worked well until I updated my Windows7 PC from iTunes 11.1.1 to 11.1.2. Now Home sharing and the ability to connect to Apple TV is broken. the Remote app on the iPhone will not connect to PC iTunes either. However, the iPhone will stream to AppleTV, and Control apple TV but I cannot connect to my PC with either AppleTV or iPhone. All devices running latest versions of Apple SW.

I have run through all the recommended diagnostics and KB articles. It just stopped working on the iTunes update to 11.1.2

Please fix ASAP... I'm waiting to buy the iPad Air, but won't if I can't use it with my iTunes library !!

Same issue here.  I have an iMac running Mavericks, the latest version of iTunes, and an Apple TV with the latest updates.  Home sharing worked flawlessly up until these updates.  Unfortunately most of the updates occured nearly simultaneously so I'm not sure which one is at fault.

This is the most irritating of the problems I've encountered since these updates.

My shared library is right there plain as day in itunes, but when I click it nothing happens.

My apple tv (which has always been buggy and unreliable) is going haywire lately when it comes to shared librarys, which is the main thing I use it for.

They need to fix this stuff ASAP. It's more than just a minor annoyance.

Oh, and itunes radio only works when it wants to as well.

All, I just wanted to give you an update on my situation on my Win7 System. I completely Removed (In THIS Order) iTunes > Apple Mobile Device Support > Bonjour > Apple Application Support > Apple Software Update.... Then Restarted!

I then Downloaded the latest version of iTunes and Installed it Fresh (All that I removed was restored); Problem Resolved!

This was not as invasive as you would think; I did not lose ANY Media or my Playlists (My Data was intact).

This was Driving Me CRAZY; the info above was the FIX!

Please post your results if this resolves you issue as well.

    Thanks,

I tried this and it didn't fix the problem for me. iTunes bumped from 11.1.2.31 to 11.1.2.32, and all software was reloaded as you say, but Home Sharing is still not working with AppleTV. Things were working fine with iTunes 11.1.1.

#3 in Home Sharing Troubleshooting helped me ... seems like after installing OS X Mavericks/iTunes 11.1.2 your HomeSharing signs out your Apple ID  ... i was under the impression that it was still signed in since the OS X devices were able to detect each others library ... but seems like OS X devices dont need your home sharing to be signed in with your apple ID to detect other libraries on the network ... iOS devices on the other hand obviously do ... so make sure to check you're signed in with the Apple ID ... STEP #3 CHECK YOUR APPLE ID ... once signed in ... i was able to get access on my iPhone 5

After a long time trying to get this working... I disabled IPV6 on my network adapter for my iTunes Machine and restarted iTunes. Fixed it instantly! This answer lives in other apple support forums. Not my idea, just passing on the fix.

Worked like a charm!  Thanks.  Previously, I uninstalled then installed iTunes twice and it didn't work.  Jimiapple67's solution nailed it.  Thanks!!!!

I had already tried a bunch of the fixes listed to no avail but what got me going again was very simple.  Make sure home sharing is setup on the Apple TV.  Leave the Apple TV on, and at the home screen with the selection box on Computers.  On the Mac open iTunes, click File > Home Sharing > Turn Off Home Sharing.  QUIT ITUNES (this is the step I missed the first time).  Open iTunes again, click File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing.  Sign in with the same Apple ID and password.

Interesting that there seem to be different methods that fix it for some and not others.
