Jul 24, 2012 11:48 AM in response to ofiestasby Linc Davis,Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have a wrong owner. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — all of the next line into the Terminal window, then press return:
find . $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID \) -ls
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
Post any lines of output that appear below what you entered — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If any personal information appears in the output, edit before posting, but don’t remove the context.

I ran the command on a new ML Mac Mini (client) using an account that is having weirdness with AddressBook (I'll work up a new post for that since I'm not having any luck) having all the contacts disappear.
The output for the command is:
find . $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID \) -ls
find: ./Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.mail.savedState/.afpDeleted12578593: No such file or directory
find: ./Library/Containers/com.apple.TextEdit/Data/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.TextEdit.savedState/.afpDeleted12578698: No such file or directory
find: ./Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.ActivityMonitor.savedState/.afpDeleted12537174: No such file or directory
find: ./Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.Console.savedState/.afpDeleted12574417: No such file or directory
find: ./Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.finder.savedState/.afpDeleted12536659: No such file or directory
find: ./Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.iChat.savedState/.afpDeleted12575889: No such file or directory
find: ./Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.Terminal.savedState/.afpDeleted12597314: No such file or directory
I'm not clear why I am getting these files now, or if they are the cause of the issues with my addressbook. I've deleted similar files from the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder, but had to use root on the server to do so. No attributes show up when I try to ls the .afp... files, just "No such file or directory". I'll do more searching here in the forums but I'm getting increasingly concerned about system stability.
As far as you know, can I safely delete the .afpDeleted references?
