Q: IOS7 iPhone emails disappearing, are not delivered

Ever since I upgraded to IOS7 on my iPhone 4, I cannot send email. After I write the email and send it, it disappears. It does not show up in sent mail, and the intended recipient does not receive it. This happens on gmail, yahoo and aol accounts.  I can send and receive email just fine on my PC laptop. But no longer on my IOS7 iPhone. Occasionally the iPhone email is delivered hours later, but that is rare.  I have "rebooted" my iPhone, with no effect. Can I fix this?  Is it my iPhone or is it IOS7?  Can/will Apple fix this?  Anyone else have this problem?  Anyone know what I can do?

Same problem and wish Apple would come on board - and let us know what they are doing about it.  I have deleted the account twice to no avail and then stumbled on the instruction to reset the networks (under General) - be aware it does mean you loose all your wifi connections so you have to redo them.  This has worked twice and then have just tried to send a message and it has stopped again.  C'mon Apple sort this out!

We have 75 iphone users; for over 3 years we have not seen this issue. We upgraded all the iPhones to IOS 7 two weeks ago. Yesterday one of our users iPhones experienced the issue. All emails he sent were not delivered and were not in his Sent Items or Outbox. We (helpdesk) took his phone and tried sending emails, they all just dissapear. We reset his phone and it solved the issue. I called Apple support, they told me it was not a known issue was must have just been a freak event.

Today a different user called us with the same issue.

We are a law firm and cannot afford to have attorneys loose email they sent to clients. Is this an IOS issue, will it be resolved soon? It makes no sense to have to look in your Sent Items to make sure an email is sent. In addition, if it did not get sent, the phone needs to get re-set and the user has to re-type the email.

I too have experienced the issue of missing sent emails after upgrading to iOS7 through my company's exchange server for the last 2 days. I realized this morning!! that my 1 out 3 sent emails being delivered and 2 emails ARE NOT. I lost critical email replies and now my job is in jeopardy because of it!!. They JUST VANISHED. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED in APPLE screwing up essential function like the email app! -- I am not sure what else to do! I want to recover those emails sent. Is there a way to recover them? I need to show this as PROOF to my client they have been sent!!!!!!

I learned my lesson today that I SHOULD NOT DEPEND ON THE iCrappy iPHONE to send important emails. I will share this with the press to make them aware of it!

    Thanks, Max

Not until I came back to this thread this morning did it ever occur to me that the trigger was turning an email account off and on.  It totally makes sense now because I would turn off an email account only during the weekdays, and I didn't seem to have the issue on weekends.  So I tested the theory, and at least for me, that seems to be the cause of problem.

    Here's how I tested it:

    1.  I closed the mail app by double clicking the home button and swiping up on the mail app.

    2.  Opened the mail app.  Sent test email.  It sent and was received.

    3.  I turned off a mail account.

    4.  Sent another test email from one of the remaining accounts.  It did not show up in the sent folder, nor was received.

    5.  I turned the mail account back on.

    6.  Sent another test email from one of the remaining accounts.  It did not show up in the sent folder, nor was received.

    7.  I closed the mail app again.

    8.  Reopened the mail app.  Sent another test email.  It sent and was received.

It may be just a just a manual fix for now, but I will be sure to either reboot my phone or close the mail app every time i turn an email account off or on.  I have an appointment with the Genius Bar tomorrow (my second trip in).  I will tell them what we've discovered (and what I've confirmed is the trigger to my email issues) and see if they know of any fix or can send this issue to the higher-ups for a permanent fix.  I will come back and post an update after my visit.  Or maybe an apple person will follow-up on this thread and chime in?

I would be interested to know... is anyone that has this problem not turning an email account on and off?

Interesting.  Does your email send for a while after you reboot the phone or close and reopen the mail app?  If so, any idea what could be triggering it to stop working again?  I don't know what type of email accounts you are using, or what you've tried so far to fix it, and I'm not sure if this would help, but at my first visit to the Genius Barthey had me reconfigure my gmail and hotmail accounts.  When that didn't help, they reset my network setting (so I had to reconnect to my saved wifi signals).  It worked... until i turned off my one email account.

I'll have to keep an eye out and see if anything else may trigger my email to stop sending.  Maybe it's more than one thing that makes it not work?

I usually always close my mail application when I'm done with it ... But I didn't try the phone reboot nor the network settings reset.

My Gmail account seems to work fine all the time...

I have problem with my IMAP Account. The emails never reach my Sent folder...

I tried reconfiguring my "Sent" folder, but no luck. All this was working fine prior the update..

    Thanks for your feedback.

Hi all, I went onto this forum to look for a fix when I realized today that a number of emails sent from my iPhone (personal and business accounts) simply disappeared - not in any sent boxes.  I was happy to see that I was not nuts and this is happening to a lot of people, but disappointed that none of the solutions posted here worked for me.

In my frantic search, I found this video and my problem is now fixed.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rnWKvE1XsI

(Not being a frequent poster on this forum, I hope posting a link is allowed.  Otherwise, mods, please delete with my apologies.)  If so, do a search on Google for Anson Alexander "Can't Send Emails from iPhone on iOS7 [Fix]"

Anyway, what I discovered is that within the Advanced setting of my mailboxes, the SMTP servers were turned off.  I simply had to pick the right one that matches the right email address (I have several), and turned it back on, and also re-typed my sign-in and password.  I can now send emails from all my mailboxes on my phone.  Hooray!

    Good luck.

Though I haven't been turning the account on and off, I, like you, have found that closing the app and reopening it seems to fix the issue, but only for a little while. After a while the mails once again stop sending. It's a really weird issue and one I hope Apple address or at least acknowledge soon. There must be plenty of users out there who don't know some of their mails aren't sending. I only found out by chance.

All, I have the same problem for two weeks. Tried many different ways and nothing worked.

My company IT support sent me instruction to reset network setting on iOS devices. It worked. Both my iPhone and iPad can now sent and receive emails instantly from exchange and gmail accounts. Give it a try.

I'm having the same problem on my ipad, except I never installed IOS 7, so I'm still running 6.1.3 and have the same issue...

Have tried deleting and adding back hotmail account and now I see no emails at all, not even the ones that are on the server. It remains "Checking for Mail..."
