Hello everyone i wrote here couple of months ago, i have a rMBP 15" with the first LG panel, the screen started with out any ghosting problem for the first 6 months, after, i could see little ghosting, but that was not a problem because it would take 5 to 10 minute on a fixed image to show real ghosting, 6 to the 10th month the ghosting got a bit worst but i could still work normally on my photography, but since i have spend a lot of money on the machine and before i was buying it i had planned to make it my work machine for at least the next 3 years i needed a way to secure my investment, and considering that if you needed to change the screen after the year warranty that would cost you around ( € 1000 - $ 1000 - £ 800 ). Since the problem got worse, and apple only offers 1 year "real" warranty, i decided to purchase the Apple Care Protection Plan, and this purchase i made, secured my machine till September 2015, but mostly i did this because i was worrying that the problem would get worse after the year had past, and it did!. After an entire year the screen now has really bad ghosting, it takes 1 minute on a fixed image or page to get it to ghost, and it takes more then 5 minutes to clear the ghosting away, The LG screen i still have apart of the ghosting problem is the best screen i have seen and worked with, i have worked with my work colleagues rMBP with Samsung displays and its not only my opinion but my colleagues to that the LG screen it comparable to a Ferrari and the Samsung is comparable to a Porsche, going back to the problem, on this Monday ( 4 / November ) i will take my rMBP to Apple Center to get the screen change, they say it will take only 3 days to get it done, and hopefully i could get an other LG screen that truly works for more than a year with out BIG PROBLEMS! but apart of the screen BIG PROBLEM we all have, the machine is really great, hopefully my rMBP will get back soon, i will let you know how things are going, and i recommend all of you to purchase the Apple Care Protection Plan, (Well you need to do it and spend extra money because Apple don't do things right! ) And because you never know when the ghosting of the LG's or the other "Samsung displays problems" with come to you.

Let us know how your replacement display is. I hope you don't get a yellow Samsung display but you probably will.

Have been reading elsewhere that people with late 13" models are still getting this problem, some right out of the box. I'm amazed that Apple can get away with this. Any other company and the reviewers would be all over them like a bad smell, but as usual Apple gets a free pass.

I'm definetly seeing a very slight yellow tint when comparing my iPhone 5 screen to my new rMBP with a Samsung screen. I didn't notice it at first but now i see it. My work Early 2013 rMBP has more of a blue tint, which is also a Samsung screen.
Looking at a few screen in photoshop, white appears white, so I'm not complaining with the quality of my screen.

After an eternity trying to decided whether or not to plough cash into a new 15" rMBP, I thought I'd do a quick check through the forum to see how many people have actually reported IR on the new late 2013 Haswell version. Going back to Oct 22, only 4 people have reported IR. Two reports on 13" versions and two reports on 15" versions. This does not include issues of colour gradients or yellowing but strictly IR and Haswell only. Based on this I'm going to pull the trigger and go for it. Perhaps I'll regret it but I'll certainly report back on how I get on.
For those who have bought new Haswell rMBP's could you let us know if you're still IR free?
Thought I'd share as there's a lot of reaction to the screens having IR but we only have 4 confirmed cases on this thread. I'm also aware it's early days too.

I have a late 2013 15" HAswell MacBook Pro, it has a LG screen and it is beautiful, The color and contrast is great, no IR even did the checkerboard test (which I think is a bit extream) I could not be happier.

thank you for summarizing the thread regarding the Haswell rMBP Image Retention / Burn In issue.
I am planning to buy the late 2013 rMBP (Haswell) 13" model, but is being held back by the IR issue.
Most people who posted here have the 15" model and only a few have the 13" model.
To all haswell rMBP 13" and 15" owners. please keep this thread updated

I ordered a 15" rMBP today so I've decided to PLAY WITH FIRE here I suppose
Well I'll see what's up with it when I get it I suppose. This forum isn't getting much posts anymore so it does make me tend to believe that it's not as big an issue as it once was.

Rectification, after playing 2-3h @ hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft, i got i litte bit IR bottom right with my bar action. Nothing elsewhere. Go for change display in 5-6 month if it going badder.
Actually i got a imac 24" 2008 with LG display, IR was really became visible after two years, things seem to be permanently imprinted on the screen.

Sorry guys, I am NEW here and I bet this question came up many times, but how can I look up the details of the display?
Couldn't find anything about the display make (LG or Samsung) in system info on my rMBP13.
