@V-l-a-d-i-m-i-r: Yep, from here every gesture and pretty everything works like a charm. I've received an upper 15" model ME294 yesterday and already loaded Windows 8,1 with PPA and Trackpad++. A pity the pinch-to-zoom doesn't seem to become available in the new Trackpad version, though. I'd really love to have some zoom gesture (yep, that one in the version 2.3d for Windows 7 was very useful). Other than that, Trackpad++ rocks! Keep up the GREAT work, Vlad!

I don't know about the community as I just found out about this yesterday. I tried it and uninstalled it since it did not work properly. I did go trough some of the pages on this discussion but the ones having issues were different as mine hence why I posted.

    I have an Early 2011 15" MBP 2.2GHz i7 2720QM and 8GB RAM, W7U SP1 x64, BC5

I installed the new beta version first but then realized that the 3-finger gestures were grayed out, which are the ones I use the most, so I ran the installer again to install the other version as suggested by the installer which is when all the issues started. I uninstalled and installed again but then I had all the bugs. I have completely uninstalled the driver now and will try again because I see no other alternative to it. I really don't understand why Apple only implemented this lousy default driver.

tried installed again and same issues, gestures going off on their own all over the place, not gonna bother again with this

@Frederiq: Thank you. There is still a hope for proper pinch-to-zoom for all trackpad generations, and I'm working on this right now. As I had indicated above, Late-2013 Macbook Pro uses 'older' trackpad type, which has issues with proper handling of pinch-to-zoom in Windows. To the contrary, Mid-2013 Macbook Air trackpad can catch this gesture perfectly in Boot Camp. Now I'm trying to make this available to all models (again).

@Ohmicide: No problems, this is the right place for posting the feedback (not only good feedback). When reinstalling, it's very important to exit the Trackpad++ Control Module from its tray icon ('++' icon) first. To do so, simply right-click this icon and choose 'Exit'. Oh, just noticed your last post. Well, since no other people can confirm that such the defect exists, I have no choice but to recommend to do what you have done already - remove the Trackpad++...

@(mostly for newcomers): It's important to realize that with the current version a user is offered with two gesture sets, one inherited from the legacy version 2.3d (produced in 2012) and the other from the version 2.4b (the very recent version).

2.3d has no 3-finger dragging, back/forward navigation is mapped to 3-finger swipe, and 3-finger vertical zoom is there. Also, it has 3-finger tap for middle mouse button emulation and some useful 4-finger gestures. Version 2.4b is very different: much anticipated 3-finger dragging had been introduced, and thus I had to map other gestures to 4-finger space. Only the 2-finger edge-gestures remain the same in both versions.

Important note: owners of all of the models starting from Mid-2009 to Late-2013 have this choice, but Mid-2013 Macbook Air owners can install version 2.4b only. (Which should not be an issue, as this is anyways the recommended version now, regardless of the Macbook model and regardless of the Windows version).

    @ALL:

I'm considering to provide a 'Microsoft-blessed' driver in the future. This would be no ordinary code signing; since the driver operates in kernel mode, it's a completely different category which requires an expensive certificate signed by an authority cross-signed by Microsoft.

May I ask the Trackpad++ community members (and the strangers, either) who are interested in getting such the future version of the Trackpad++ driver to please contact me via email ( support@powerplan7.com ). Let's use email for this poll in order to keep this topic focused on the user feedback. Thank You.

    Your Dev,

Vlad, Im having a very irritaing issues with trackpad++/powerplan assistant

ISSUE 1: I use my 2012 macbook pro for playing games with a razer deathadder mouse. When I play, I like the winodws mouse sentivity to be 6/11, which is the accepted best one for gaming.

However, as soon as I restart the computer, trackpad++ changes it back to 3/11.

How can I make it permanently 6/11? Or even stop trackpad++ from changing it?

ISSUE 2: Power plan assistant stops out of the blue. I cant right click to change its options and it also takes my FN key with it. If I hit FN + special keys, nothing happens. This had never ever happened to me before recent updates.

    Thanks!

@timelover: Both the Power Plan Asssitant and Trackpad++ have not changed the binaries during last 1.5 months. When did you start experiencing this? Power Plan Assistant had actually been made with an emphasis on letting the people use 100% of the top row functions, so even thinking about the opposite makes me worry a bit. Although rigth now I have a lot of the positive feedback from PPA users, and the feedback remains strictly positive since the last update on around October 1st, so honestly I'm very surprised. Maybe Apple Update made this issue happen somehow, but then you would not be alone. Or this could be Windows Update somehow, but again, then other people would start reporting the same... As always, I can suggest to first quit PPA from tray and reinstall it.

Yes, Trackpad++ pointer acceleration is set globally through the OS mechanism. For your scenario with constantly changing this because you use the mouse so frequently and your mouse requires much different speed it's not that cool, I realize. But I cannot offer you any alternative right now. Trackpad++ is a bit egoistic, as you can see - it cares solely about the trackpad... cares a lot

Dear vlad, regarding PPA, I have no idea how, but I decided to disable the new avast version I was running and it worked flawlessly. For some weird reason avast kept blocking PPA from working right. Done then

Now about trackpad, so even if I want to, I cant raise the trackpad speed through windows, it will keep reseting? I dont get it why the trackpad has to set a determined pointer speed by its own. What would be the issue in letting the user change the speed accordingly?

    Cheers!

@V-l-a-d-i-m-i-r Every time I try to download PowerPlan it gets blocked by NOD32 for having Win32/OpenCandy adware in it. Have you come across this before?

  • 836. Re: A NEW TRACKPAD DRIVER IS OUT
    V-l-a-d-i-m-i-r Level 1 Level 1 (10 points)

@timelover: Please consider using the pointer ballistics control of the Trackpad++ Control Module. 3 presets and turbo checkbox give you 6 total speed presets. In addition, these presets are optimized for our trackpad device.

@jmcur001: OpenCandy is nothing to hide, nothing to be afraid of. In fact, some of the most trusted antivirus and antispyware makers use it during the installation. And many world-wide popular programs do. Winamp, WinSCP are the first examples I can remember.

Right in the PPA installer window, OpenCandy displays a small ad which is the recommendation to install some (clean) software. You can agree or decline. You are not forced to install anything unless you agree. And, please let me emphasize, OpenCandy shows up only within the installer, and only once.

By the way it's always a good idea to check the files you download with www.virustotal.com web site. They have all the antivirus engines put altogether for a quick online check. I just re-verified and 45 of 47 AV engines detect nothing. 2 of 47 detect OpenCandy, and it's true. This is in fact directly indicated in the EULA of PPA.

Any more update on the signed drivers?

I don't know about others, but I would be willing to purchase a paid license if the drivers didn't require the disabling of driver signing and integrity checks.

@Omikron: Thanks for your vote. Actually, after ~2 weeks, only the few people showed at least some interest. And I think that's because the majority of software is not signed nowadays, so most people aren't even bothered by this fact. Since A LOT of people from this board usually contact me privately (in case of the new release, etc.), I know for sure that there are many, many people who are subscribed to this topic. So, such the poll, while not ultimate, definitely makes sense.

@Community: If you are the long-term user of the Trackpad++, then, please, consider supporting the project by donating. You will not be disappointed by what is coming in the future (yes, including the Microsoft-blessed driver, which is directly connected with the financial state of the project). Please let me thank You in advance!

    Cheers,

    Vladimir
