I have two HP Laserjets of the same model available to print over the network, they have the same name except for a seemingly hex number in brackets [15ACC8] and [15BB58]. Is there any way to find what that number refers to so I can identify which one is which on the network?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

    Hey there James,

It sounds like you want to be able to rename your printers to more easily differentiate them when you go to print.

You can use Print & Fax preferences to manage the printers, scanners, and fax machines you use. To view Print & Fax preferences, choose Apple > System Preferences and click Print & Fax.

Just select the printer, click “Options & Supplies”

From: Mac OS X 10.6: Print & Fax preferences

When you click that the option you are looking for is Name. Change the Name and click OK.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Take care,
