Q: Installing Canon LBP 2900 on Mac OS 10.9 fails.

Installing Canon LBP 2900 on Mac OS 10.9 fails.

I have updated my OSX 10.8.5 and my printer has stopped to work.  Then I deleted the printer and tried to install it as found in a older thread here in the forum.

After adding the printer, a window opens which tells me I have installed too many printers and my printer is deleted automatically. But I have installed only one printer.

Any idea?

I remember owners of this model having all sorts of trouble with finding a supporting driver after they updated to Lion. One solution was to copy files from a working 10.6 Mac to the 10.7 Mac. This worked for many but not everyone. And I don't see this workaround being succesful on 10.9.

Canon has released the CAPT v3.65 driver to add support for OS X 10.9. But it does not list the LBP2900 as a supported model. I suggest you contact your local Canon support.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.  I downloaded the 3.65 drivers.  Now I can add the printer, use the old capi definition but the printer doesn't print anything.  There is also no error message.

I asked here because the printer worked perfect before installing Mavericks.

This is what worked for me...

The printer works with Mavericks using the new CAPT v3.65 driver available here:  http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100420705.html  and the old Mountain Lion patch which is available here:

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7kZEfXZH5ZXOEt0R2NnNVpwdDQ/edit?usp=drive_web&p li=1

Go to System Settings / Printers and Scanners and delete your printer, then restart your computer. Install the new CAPT driver and restart your computer. Install the patch and restart your computer.

Go to System Settings / Printers and Scanners and reinstall your printer selecting Cannon LBP2900 (CAPTuk) driver from the drivers list

You should now have a working printer.

    Good Luck

The above worked for me, the key was deleting the existing printers and restarting the computer before reinstalling. I would keep trying with the above as it definately works, the old patch definately works.

Hi - I have been really trying hard to install Canon LBP 2900 and I've followed the installation option but when I try to set up in printer options under System Preference, it does not list the printer at all.

It's just that I am a new Mac user and have Macbook Air. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong a the time of installation.

    Please help.

Can anyone explain to me why, every time I'm printing something, a process called "ccpd" wants to send information to the internet? (I blocked it in my firewall for now). CCPD most likely stands for Canon something Printer Driver, but why does it want to send information to the internet?

Is there something sketchy about the patch? Last time, I installed it on Mountain Lion with the patch from the original source, that didn't happen as far as I remember.

It would be awesome, if anyone could clarify that for me. >,< I'm not the most tech savvy person.
