If your device is still under warranty I'd make an appointment at your local apple store. If it's not then there may not be much you can do. I would GUESS that there may be an issue with the iPad's equivalent of a graphic card, but that's literally a blind guess.
YOu can reset your device. (hold down the sleep and home keys until it reboots) and, if it gets bad, you can consider restoring your iPad. But if there's something going wrong on the inside then it's probably just a matter of time before it breaks permanently....of course that may take weeks or months or longer.
Even if your device isn't still under warranty then you can call your local apple store, see if you can make an appointment and have them diagnose it.
