Q: Belkin bluetooth keypad

Has anyone managed to get their MacBook Pro to pair with Belkins F8T067 bluetooth keypad with Maverick 10.9 ?

 

I just bought one today... from an Apple Store.... took it home and spent a very frustrating hour trying to set it up, and failed miserably.

 

I successfully got the MacBook Pro to pair with the keypad, but it couldn't identify it correctly and the OS only offered 3 different standard keyboard options, none of which were appropriate. In fact the "idiot mode" setup trying identify the keyboard kept insisting that I only needed to press the key to the left of the shift key to identify it.....which of course doesn't exist as its a KEYPAD dummy !

 

I can't believe that apple has completely overlooked that their flagship new OS doesn't seem to support bluetooth keypads that they sell in all their Apple Stores.

 

And I can't believe also that Belkin make absolutely no mention of this problem and a solution on their website and their setup info on their website is obviously dated.

 

Come on people.... this kind of screw-up is what we like to poke fun at our competition for !!

 

Anyone got any suggested solutions for me ?

    I am having the exact same issue right now. It simply won't pair with my new macbook retina 13".

    This keypad does not pair with my Macbook Pro running 10.7.5.  Disappointing.

    Follow up: We purchased two pads for different users.  One worked and one did not.  Looks like we got a bum pad.

    I had exactly the same problem! A Belkin YourType keypad bluetooth to add numbers to my iMac keyboard. I took it home, it connected but it wouldn't work! Returned it to the Apple store and got another, same problem! The thing connects but won't work. Spent a few hours of frustration for nothing.

    There is obviously a problem with Belkin and Maverick.

    It would have been nice if someone would have told me before I purchased this, or got a second one.

    For me, I have trouble just getting the Belkin YourType keypad into discoverable/pairing mode. The darn thing is really stubborn and it takes me several minutes of fussing with the power button to get it right. When the green LED blinks twice in rapid succession followed by a pause and repeats, then it's discoverable. Much like Apple's own trackpad and keyboard, though Apple's are easier to get into that mode.

     

    When I do get it into discoverable mode, it connects and works well enough.

     

    I'm curious if the others here having trouble are actually hitting the same problem as I am.

    My YourType keypad had no problem with pairing with my iMac, it just wouldn't work at all when connected, i.e. it connected but press any key, nothing happened.

    Hi, i bought the keypad yesterday on Apple online store and i am having exactly the same problem. Did anybody find a solution?

    No solution yet. It is not compatible with Mavericks, and therefore won't work. I am suprised they even sold it to you, my Apple retail store with removed it about a month ago, and it is unavailable.

    My keypad did pair and works for the most part.  I have yet to find any information on programming the F13-F16 keys getting the delete key to work in anything other than forward delete.  Anyone have any ideas?

     

    Used BetterTouchTool and now have all the funtions on the keypad doing what I want them to do.  Looks like a keeper now.  Just wish Belkin would at least suggest how to make the thing work correctly.

    I returned my Belkin keypad. Useless. I notice that they are all gone form the local Apple stores.

    I had the same problem and just got off the phone with Apple and Belkin.  I am running OS Mavericks on an macbook air and after 2 hours of trouble shooting with both companies and looking online, I finally found a bizzare fix that has the device working for me.

     

    Apple asked me to reset the SMC by pressing on the built in keyboard "(left side) shift-control-option keys at the same time as the power button (this will turn the computer off and reset the SMC.

     

    Next, before turning the power back on, hold <command, option, p, r> keys then press power.  Keep these held until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time to reset NVRAM.

    After doing both these steps, my keypad still did not work.  However, after calling Belkin they asked me to replace the batteries.  I have no clue whatsoever why that would make a difference, I had brand new batteries and the device was staying connected (no power loss), but as soon as I replaced the batteries I was able to type in numbers for the first time without any issue.  It did not ask me to hit a key next to the shift button anymore, it just worked.

     

    I am baffled, but thought I would share in case it helps anyone.

    I don't have a solution but I tought I would add my experience with the Yourtype keypad to the thread.

     

    I'm running Mavericks on a new 27" IMac.

     

    The keypad paird right away without issue.  It worked with no issues for a couple days.  Then, it would periodically either stop working or have a long delay from when I typed on it to when it would display the numbers on the screen.  15 to 20 seconds sometimes.  When this happened, I would manually disconnect and reconnect and it would work again for a short period of time.  Now I've learned that when it starts acting up, if i restart my machine, it will work again. Usually for several days.

     

    The other thing I have noticed is that it seems to start acting up when I'm using it in multiple applications.  For instance if I'm moving back and forth between the calculator, quicken and a spread sheet.

     

    Again, I know this doesn't solve the problem really but I thought maybe it would help one of you folks out there who are way smarter than me with this kind of thing think of something.

    You are missing the point!
    The keypad should work right out of the box. None of this restarting the computer, fiddling and adjusting settings each time you want to use it. Waste of time. If it needs this much attention, it is useless.

    Unless the problem is with the OS.  I don't think that has been ruled out.  Has it?

    I really like this product when it's working which for me is most of the time.
