I just find something
After a long use (with or without power), if you do anything to the right edge (or right-ish part) of the macbook it goes to blackscreen immediately (in most of my cases it was my headphone fell off and hit the keyboard bwtween the "enter" key and ":" key).
So I'm wondering if that part consists with graphic cards or something that would cause this problem.
I also have to add that I'm really dissapointed at Apple about how they handled this issue. And with the keyboard problem from new mbp and display issues from ipod air, not to mention the battery with 5s, quality control seems to have slided quickly.
Hopefully they'll come up with something or I'll have to sell this computer.

1) I just noticed that, the screen goes black when both USB ports are being used at the same time, like if I have a 3G dongle on one and then have my external hard drive connected to the other. This doesn't happen immediately but after some time of usage. Another instance when this happened is when I connected an Avid C400 audio interface on one and the apogee mic on the other. The issue occurred again when I used a USB hub to connect the two devices. I am beginning to wonder if the USB controller is getting overheated and causing this to happen in this case.
2) Tried contacting customer care of apple. The reply I got from them is the instructions on doing SMC reset and then to take the laptop to the apple store if it happens again.
Yeah... I agree with you. It seems like ever since Steve Jobs passed away, apple's quality control has degraded by a large amount.

Just regular use? I didn't understand what you meant
I got a new bug today. I had my headphones plugged. Pushed the power button so the Mac went to sleep mode. When I came back and waked it up, I had no sound. I am not the only one with this bug.
It is alot of bugs with this machine. I think it has to be something with the new processor maybe....
I have three bugs in total. And it's the sleep mode that activates all of them.
I am dissapointed that they havent't come up with a new fix. I dont't want to change it in for a new, because i think it is a bug with all the new MBA's 13.
Looks like the new MBP 13 also have some bugs aswell.

I didn't see that issue you mentioned with my MBA(just tried). But my problem with this machine is the USB controller. Like, when I tried testing your scenario, what I found was that none of the USB devices that I had connected on, works anymore and reconnecting them didn't work either. I had to reboot to have it working again. This happens in the case of my other USB devices too, like my audio interface, the dongle, etc where if I disconnect them for some reason and then connect them again, they don't get recognised. And the only workaround I found is to reboot.
Something is seriously wrong with how apple works these days.

yeah... I heard about it too, which is why I haven't gone thru that route yet. The biggest problem is that for me, in India we don't have any genuine apple iStores and the ones that exist are all 3rd party dealers. So, if I want to make a warranty claim, the process takes minimum 2 months before I can get my hands on the new replacement. I can't afford to stay away from a computer for that long since I am a student and need the computer for doing the coursework(I study computer science at IIT).

Yeah that happend to me from time to time as well, so... not a good sign.
In general all these bugs really make the experiences way worse than the one I had ( aluminium macbook 13" ). And it seems that Apple are paying more attention on the new mbp problem, so god knows when we'll get a fix.

I've heard about the usb thing on several places as well. The problem is, we don't really know what triggers the issue, and in my opinion it is to do with either compatebility of the new haswell or hardware mulfunction.
And I don't think exchange the laptop would be a good idea as NOBODY knows what's causing all these issues so you might end up with another defective ones yet the only solution apple has is "exchange" (and hope for the best).
I do hope a software update could solve this problem but it seems very unlikely, I guess.

Since the Mavericks update I am having the same problem.
I reboot => Audio works fine for abot 50 minutes to 1h then audio goes silent.
The screen controls still show up but no audio from headset or speakers.
I reproduced the same with and without headset leading to the same result
I need to reboot every time to get about 1 hour of audio.
12h battery life is no good without audio.
The black screen happens only once a week now since Mavericks
Is that good news?

Regarding the black screen I get both
1) I can reproduce the problem where by clicking anything during wakeup from sleep I get into a locked state
2) The screen randomnly goes black with mouse cursor visible only (Sometimes it recovers from this , sometimes it needs reboot)
Regarding 1) The problem is this happens during powerpoint presentations when running on battery.
I was doing a press conference in USA two weeks ago and during a Q&A I was answering questions from the press and thus not touching the MBA. When the screen went black everyone in the room and I noticed it as all the projection screens went black too, now in panic you quickly hit a key in a failed attempt to keep the machine alive which locks the machine up. Clearly this is a major problme for public speakers. Apple has been no help so far.
Now I have the audio problem too.
Time for a new laptop? This one after all is already 3 Months old...

Well, after removing chrome and having the blackouts go, in the past week I have had several each day....often accompanied with an arrow on the screen that I can move but that does nothing.....and the blackouts are lasting perhaps 10 seconds or so, which is very annoying :-(
Clearly I must have installed something that has broken things......but I cannot think what !
Anyone know a way to see what was most recently installed ?
Or indeed where to look for logs that might tell me something?
perhaps time for a genius bar visit.......

If you read through this thread you'll see it is not caused by Chrome...
