You know what Apple did in those situations? They replaced those devices.

    a) so people who have disliked iOS 7 have gotten their previous OS back?  Didn't see when that happened. (because if that HAD been the case, then this thread would never have come into existence)

    b) amazon does in fact now have an updated paperwhite. it's awesome.

So Tim Cook is an idiot? Because odds are he doesn't read every legal document that comes across his desk - that's why Apple has a team of lawyers - very well-paid, and they know their jobs well.

So you have a team of lawyers review all of your legal documents including terms of use and EULAs? If you have a "team of lawyers" of course you don't need to read every document. And of course you have NO IDEA what he does and does not read. Ridiculous example.

When John Kennedy was putting together his civil rights program, he was advised (by Lyndon Johnson, among others) to be upfront and say why the civil rights program was morally important - to not "stand back and hide behind legal documents, and say, well, I'm just maintaining the law.

You are actually comparing this to the civil right movement? Unbelievable.

So they're solution that you are so proud of was the following?

    A. Admit they screwed up.

    B. Tell everyone it wasn't a big deal.

    C. Release a new model that you could buy that didn't have the issue?

That's what you want Apple to do?

My standing in this is the same with all consumer products is, if you don't like it, buy something else you do. No one forced anyone to do anything here.

The best thing about this thread, were the other threads just like it when the other releases of iOS were launched and people downloaded them unknowningly. Yes this is the most visual change so far, but nonetheless, this thread happens every iOS launch.

I agree with that, and the irony. When the iPhone 5 happened, people went ape about having to spend money on adaptors for all their various other devices.  When 4 happened, the drop calls issue.

Still, we should all voice our concerns as they arise. Do you not make your bed ever, for the simple fact that you'll be unmaking it soon enough?

As you say, it's a radical visual change. But the majoirty of the issues here regard functionality rather than aesthetics.

That's the point.  SOMEONE reads the documents before he signs them.  If you want, feel free to hire a paralegal to read all your documents before signing.

I employed a comparison to how to approach a problem and how to address it to the public. Nothing more, nothing less. But, recognizing that it would be easy to conflate and intepret it as a comparison to the movement and the history itself, I then switched gear to another consumer giant.

JamesWard - it's easy to say "go buy something else". but many have spent a decent amount of thewir bank to have this device, and may even be locked into contracts.  As others have said, if they had recognized that they'd be losing some functionality, maybe they wouldn't have done the upgrade.

Yes, we'll all run out right now and hire our own team of white shoe lawyers. A grand idea. I'll get started right after my secretary comes in here and lights my cigar.

And of course you have NO IDEA what he does and does not read.

What part of my statement of "Odds are he doesn't read every legal document that comes across his desk" didn't you understand? I assume it was the "odds are" part.

I never said "go buy something else". Frankly I really do not care what you buy. Nothing to me one way or the other.

No, the difference is I wan't making a claim as to what he does one way or the other. I was just pointing out the analogy was quite faulty.

You don't get it... It's OK if you dont like the look & feel... The problem is that you can't uninstall iOS 7. It doesn't make any sense.

I have AppleCare+ on my iPad 3 and iPhone 5 and I'd gladly pay $50 for each device to get a replacement with iOS 6... I don't understand Apple's stubborn attitude.

    Hi Jon -

May I just refresh your memory. Here's a dandy little quote, directly from you:

if you don't like it, buy something else

Here's another quote, directly from you:

I never said "go buy something else".

For someone who claims to be so careful to read every legal document you encounter, you sure do have an amazing capacity for contradiction. IM-press-IVE.

    Keep 'em comin'...
