Nov 6, 2013 5:32 AM in response to MichaelHundby léonie,★HelpfulIf you are having Aperture 3.1, Michael, it has probably not been bought at the AppStore, but you have a version with a registration key, right?
Then you should be able to update it manually, by downloading an update from the support page.
Try to upgrade to Aperture 3.4.5 and check, if then the Aperture 3,5 update will become available.
The Aperture 3.4.5 update can be downloaded here Aperture 3.4.5, and earlier updates from here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#Aperture%203,
One problem - Aperture 3.1 and 3.4.5 differ so considerably, that you should repair your Aperture library before upgrading your current Aperture library. If you succeed to update Aperture, launch it directly into "First Aid" mode to run a repair, before you launch it regulary. Hold down the key combination ⌥⌘ while double clicking Aperture to launch it, and hold the keys down, until you are seeing the First Aid panel and can select "Repair Database":

Thanks for the help. On my laptop at home I have Aperture 3.4.5 already, but it still does not let me upgrade. Yes, I purchased version 2 some years ago, then upgraded to version three, I think all done before the app store. I think my version at the desktop must be version 3.45, not 3.1, I'll check again. In any case, I still can not upgrade from 3.45. I've tried "in-app", but it all now goes through the app store, which is where the problem is.
I tried to do it manually by downloading from the support page, but I can not find it. The link you provide has all versions but the current one. Do you have a url for a download of version 3.5?
Kind Regards,
Michael Hund

you can download updaters for all versions, but Aperture 3.5. But the manual upgrade should enable you to upgrade to a version that will run with Mavericks at least, even if it will not let you upgrade to 3.5.

Does Aperture 3.4.5 run with Mavericks, and can you at least open your Aperture library and continue to use Aperture?
The update to Aperture 3.5 is handled very differently from all other updates. What Apple is doing, is transferring your Aperture registration key to an AppStore licence bound to your AppleID.
If you cannot update and get a warning, that your Aperture is tied to a different account, could mean, that there is a problem with your Aperture serial number. I suspect, if someone else had used your serial number to activate Aperture and upgraded it at the AppStore, you cannot use the same serial number again with your own AppleID. Compare the serial number you are seeing in Aperture's "About Aperture" panel with the ones on your Aperture upgrade boxes. And make sure, that you are signed into the App Store with the same Apple ID on all your Macs, when you are trying the update.
if there should be a problem with the registration code, contact Apple and ask for a replacement serial number: Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers
Another frequent problem with upgrading Aperture is, that it only seems to be possible, if your main system language is set to "English". Try to set it temporarily to English, while trying to upgrade.

Nov 6, 2013 12:59 PM in response to léonieby MichaelHund,Thanks leonieDF, I'm about to head to the office. First make sure I have 3.45 installed there, manual if necessary, then try to upgrade. If unsuccessful, I'll contact Apple for a replacement Serial Number. My license is legitimate, I've paid for all upgrades, and I've installed it only on my laptop, and now my desktop machine, since I don't use my laptop much any more. I wonder if that second install is the problem?
Thanks again for your help.

That is perfectly o.k. - the licence for the boxed retail version entitles you to use Aperture on a portable computer and on a desktop version at the same time. It would only be problematic, if you used the same registration key with different AppleIDs on both your macs, for example, if you used previously a different Apple, perhaps for an iTunes Store account.

OK, progress, thanks for all your help. On my desktop with OS X 10.9, I was able to download and install Aperture 3.45, and it accepted my credentials. So now I can access my photos again!!!
I still can not upgrade to Aperture 3.5, so I will follow up the link to the replacement Serial Number.
Kind Regards,
Michael Hund

What is the exact error message you are getting from the AppStore?
And have you tried to set the language to English, then reboot and sign into the AppStore again?

The error message is:
Update Unavailable with This Apple ID
This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again.
I swithed to Spanish, rebooted, then switched back to English, rebooted, no luck.
Thanks again.
Kind Regards,
Michael Hund

What does your current Aperture show, when you use the command "Aperture > About Aperture"? Is the name showing in the Registration the same as your current AppleID name?
Check if Apple created more than on AppleID for you at

Nov 12, 2013 12:14 PM in response to MichaelHundby nzjohn,I, too keep getting this message. None of my Apple IDs work for my Apple Store purchased upgrade to Aperture 3.0. Language changes and other suggestions don't seem to work either. Can't Apple just do a link that I can download the upgrade from 3.4.5 to 3.5 as thay allowed in the past?
Cheers,
John Lee
