Q: Problem logging in App Store

Hi,

I can log in online apple store so I believe I have the right ID and password.

But I keep having this problem logging in App Store.

Anyone had met this problem before?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Well, after I entered in my ID and password in App Store, the gear on the left side just keeps rotating without letting me log in. Other than that, there is no message log, no popping-out window, or else.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

    View Show Log List

    from the menu bar.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

So I followed the instruction, and these following lines (I did not post every of them) showed first on Log List.

First take the steps recommended in this support article. If there's no change, continue as follows.

    Back up all data.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    ~/Library/Preferences/

Right-click or control-click the line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the item you moved. If possible, restore it from a backup that predates the problem.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

    Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I'm glad you solved the problem, but for the record, there was a mistake in my comment. Instead of

    ~/Library/Preferences/

    I should have put

    ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.cookies
