Q: iCloud and Windows 8.1

I am using a desktop PC; was Windows 8 64 bit; upgraded this morning to Windows 8.1.

I am using Microsoft Office 2010; my contacts, tasks and calendars are in iCloud.

Now when I am in Outlook, it will not open contacts, calendar or tasks .. It tells me: The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened.

I tried re-installing iCloud and I get: There si a problem with this windows installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run.

Thanks for starting this topic. I've learned to wait until others have solved issues like this. Too many different attempt to solve just confuses the issue. Since I first discovered this issue - new versions iOS, iCloud and iTunes. I'm convinced my iCloud calendar problems were NOT my fault!

I-lux solution works. I had tried everything he suggested prior, except disabling and re-enabling the COM addin for iCloud. The proof was to reboot the computer, relaunch Outllok and my iCloud contacts, etc settings held. Prior to the actions taken with the COM plugin, every time I restarted Outlook my iCloud data would disappear.  THANKS I-lux!!!

I had the same thing.  Outlook 365 and iCloud working perfectly.  Upgrade to 8.1 and nothin works anymore.

In fact, when I start iCloud it shows Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks.  But when it has finished installing, all I get is Mai.  The other options disappear.

Come Apple, what are you doing about this?

    Hi

Further to my last post (a few minutes ago) I tried someone's fix and it WORKED.

    Here it is below:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -

    This fixed the issue:

    1. sign out of iCloud. (make sure you are really signed out or it won't work!)

    2. open Outlook and make sure iCloud is not listed in Account Settings

    3. close Outlook

    4. sign in to iCloud and let it set up Outlook sync

Nota bene: I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iCloud (twice) but to no avail. It wasn't until I completed the above that I could actually get things back to normal. I hope this works for you!  (Tip o' that hat to Diane Poremsky @outlooktips - this was her idea.)

I got the same proble which i solved as follows

    Disistall icloud

    Close outlook

    Restart the pc reistall icloud

When you start to config i cloud in contact calendars...you have two option..the first one you select everything.. The second one you can chose.

Iin this one all. Deselected and in this way all information on icloud will go in outlook...any other option doesnt work at all..

This solved my problem also. Close Outlook then uninstalled iCloud. Reinstalled it http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455

Tried all the above and i still have this issue which states

    Multiple Outlook versions installed

You can't use icloud when multiple versions of Outlook are installed.

All this started when i upgraded to 8.1 everything works fine prior to this update.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Agreed. Need Apple to step up and deal with this ASAP.

I read some people have had limited success with Office 2010. Perhaps. Icloud for Windows is not at all compatible with Windows 8.1 + Office 365.

Please Apple ... get all over this ASAP.

Well you did achieve success but it may have been the act of signing out from the control panel and signing back in that did the trick.  you did this when you unistalled the control panal and re installed it. once reinstalled it asked you to sign in and then setup occured. I skipped the uninstall and reinstall and just signed out and resigned back in. Once i signed back in it had me set it up, after that outlook sync worked and all my data was there. So before anyone unistalles try first to sign out and then sign back in and see if that works may save you some time. Thanks Ken_Montreal if you hadn't posted your success i may still be pulling my hair out, now on to the brother all in one p c fx machines control panel, this will be much harder
