I have the same problem on my ipad. It stopped downloading mail from my Yahoo account, after I upgraded to ios7. Getting same error message. I tried deleting the account and readding it and it still doesnt work. The operating system is broken.

I'm getting the same message with my iPhone 5s but I am getting the mail. Tapping "OK" is getting annoying.

Same problem as julieapat. Worked fine after upgrade to IOS7, then two days ago, my yahoo inbox stopped receiving, although all other folders do (spam for instance will fetch) Have tried rebooting, deleting email account and readded (with a reboot in between) and still same problem. (cannot connect to mail server) all other email accounts are working as normal.

Was there ever a response/solution to this? There's plenty of occasions where this seems to have happened but this thread is exactly what's happening to me. I am currently in Spain and trying to use Yahoo mail.
My mail is updating occasionally but if i try to force an update i get "cannot get mail...the connection to the server failed". Also if i try to send and email i get "a copy has been placed in your outbox....the connection to the outgoing server apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com failed...additional servers can....."
I checked my mail settings and the defined server isn't prefixed with "apple".

Have you all updated to 7.0.3 allready?
I have no issues here with German Telekom, iCloud and gmail...
I suggest to delete the account and re-add the account after a restart of the iPhone.

Yup, it's (Ipad) at 7.0.3 and was updated about 2 weeks ago. The problem only manifested itself yesterday.

Hello. Yes I did get the problem resolved. It isn't the Apple IOS, the problem is on Yahoo's side and they were the ones that resolved the issue.
It is very hard to get into contact with them, as their website is not set up for optimal communication with customers. Once you get a dialogue going then it is much easier and they resolved the issue within 24 hours.

OK, it seems to be fixed. I have 2 Yahoo accounts on the 1 iPad. The primary was OK, I realised this problem was only affecting the secondary id/account. I deleted it and added it back in and it looks to be OK, now.

I was having the same peoblem with my iPhone 4S using iOS 7.0.3. I followed all the troubleshooting steps listed on both Yahoo's and Apple's sites, but kept getting messages telling me that my password was wrong or that I needed to update my account. I finally logged into Yahoo on my MBP and went to my account settings, opted to edit them, changed nothing, and saved the settings. 2 minutes later my iPhone was able to verify my password and complete the add mailbox process. I hope it lasts, every once in a while I get prompted by calendar to enter my Yahoo password.
