Q: Download Error. Tap to retry.

Whenever I try and download a song from itunes directly to my iphone I get the message: Download Error. Tap to retry.

I've checked that I don't have any t&c's to accept in itunes and that the files are under 10mb. I've also tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing my compueter which doesn't help.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm using a brand new 3GS which syncs with windows vista.

Thanks in advance

Hello I found a solution, I could not swipe etc... I went into my music and next to the song there was a cloud with an arrow. I repeatedly tapped it very fast while the msg would pop up with an error, I would hit retry. Eventually with some timing the download wheel would go around and then begin downloading the song. Kind of a shove it in your mouth approach but it worked for me!

This error has been frustrating me for the past month.  I finally called Apple support today and they told me to do the following - and it worked!!

My issue was downloading episodes from TV show seasons that I had purchased.  When restoring my iPad Air, I had to leave the office and when I arrived at home, I found that all of my pending downloads now said "download error:  Tap to retry".  Tapping on the arrow of couse, did not work.

    • go to the iTunes store on your iPad or iPhone
    • click on 'purchased"
    • find the tv series or movie that you're trying to download
    • click on the cloud icon
    • your download will resume

Be sure that when you set these items to download that you stay in the same wifi zone long enough for the download to complete.

    Hope this helps someone!

    Sandy

Sign out from both iTunes and App Store. Sign in again and tap the cloud button next to the album or songs. That should do it.

Try logging out from your iTunes account and logging back in. Retry downloading the movie. That should fix the problem.

When is apple going to fix iTunes. A rental movie takes hours to download because it keeps restarting! Audio books in places they shouldn't or can only be found with spotlight? Two days of 3 hour plus sessions with an iTunes specialist and they had no idea what was wrong......ugh wrong answer apple!! Should this loyal apple devotee find a new company?

You have to change your wifi settings for this download error,(done retry).Go to Settings>Wifi>Go to information of your wifi network(by clicking on i on rightmost part of your wifi name)>change DNS to 8.8.8.8 You are done! Now download apps without any error.

Tried all these solutions without success forever. Eventually I managed to get the song that where pending into the "pause" mode. Went into Music and the album instead of iTunes. Tapped the songs there and they all downloaded. Seems like there is no general method for this issue. Just stubborn trial/error until it works.
