Nov 8, 2013 1:57 PM in response to rickfromgbrby bfdulock,★HelpfulI downgraded a user recently from Mavericks to Mountain Lion due to a software incompatibility between QuarkXPress 9.3 and Mavericks. The process I used was to
1) back up computer
2) erase computer
3) install Mountain Lion and all Apple updates
4) use Migration Assistant 10.8 to migrate everything from backup
This worked successfully but the user was not using Mail, Contacts, and Calendar. I don't know if the data for these apps will successfully migrate.

Nov 8, 2013 2:06 PM in response to bfdulockby rickfromgbr,Hi Bryan,
many thanks for this.
I have found a solution (after a lot of searching)..Cisco have released a new version of Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client for Mac, it's version 3.1.04074 and appears to work!
My VPN has been stable for more than an hour now, which is as much as I have had over more than a week since upgrading to Mavericks.
I've downloaded from my corporate website, but there must be a Cisco location for people to get access
cheers
Rick
PS Now onto working out how to get the best out of Mavericks!!

Nov 8, 2013 7:57 PM in response to rickfromgbrby Rob10041,Thank's for the information! I haven't even tried (recently) to set up a VPN, and never w/Maverick. I'll try to use this approach ASAP.
Anyone know if getting a new Mac w/OS server which I will be getting soon is required, or just more "seamless"?

Nov 8, 2013 8:47 PM in response to rickfromgbrby Rob10041,I also tried to downgrade to Mountain Lion, I have it on a flash drive Apple "loaded" for me. Not able to. I also have Snow Leopard on disc. If Mountain Lion is not compatible post-Maverick, I imagine trying to re-install Snow Leopard is also, futile. A notice I received when trying to go back to Mountain Lion (for reasons not applicable to a VPN), the notice said that (not a quote) "My HD drive had been modified, and/or was no longer [compatible w/ now installed Maverick]"
Question: Anyone know why, or perhaps why not? What has been changed, as the physical drive is the same that came w/my mac-mini, 2010 model. What software/ or operative SW protocol is involved that create's this incompatibility? I guess it could have some relevance with the reduced speed of loading web page's? Needless to say if my question involves confidential work technique's and/or proprietary applications-of, oh, then, never mind.
* I state that downloading Maverick certainly did not require a new physical HD unless the SW change's the information topology, or "floor plan", which would in theory change the execution of said SW. Yes I am guessing what may be applicable, or my lack of knowedge, applicable or not is shockingly obvious.

Nov 15, 2013 8:08 PM in response to Rob10041by James Smutek,Hey Rob - you'll likely have to boot to recovery, then erase the hard drive. Once you've erased the hard drive you should be able to reinstall the operating system.
If you've got a full time machine backup from prior to the Mavricks upgrade then you should be able to go that route as well.

Nov 16, 2013 4:57 AM in response to rickfromgbrby pepmachine,Not my solution but try this. Don't forget to reboot. It works!
Replace /usr/sbin/racoon with the version from Mountain Lion (use Time Machine) and L2TP VPN will be working again.
Good luck.

Dec 19, 2013 2:43 PM in response to pepmachineby laundry bleach,Looks like there is a VPN Update for OS X Server that just came out. It requires OS X 10.9.1. Installing it myself now.
Good luck to everyone.
