looked and didnt really see this question....but in my situation i have a small album that was deleted, and when I go back with the time machine, to restore that album (actually full iphoto), it goes through the process, but gives a comment about 9.4.3 being out of date and will not restore to the current 9.5 that I am running.  I can with a lot of work restore the album manually from my library, but very time consuming and was hoping just to get it from a stored date on the time capsule......but not successfull.

Any suggestions.......I am afraid to delete iphoto 9.5.....but if I did, would that then make the 9.4.3 the default if I attempted to restore it?  Dont want to go from the frying pan to the fire......

Thanks in advance.

What are you trying to restore from Time Machine?

To restore your album, you need to restore the iPhoto Library, not the iPhoto 9.4.3 application.

And I'd not restore the older library on top of your current library, or you will lose all photos that you imported since you deleted the album. Try to restore the iPhoto library to a different folder. Then you can open that library and export the photos in that album to a folder on your Desktop, so you can browse the photos at the same time as your current iPhoto library. Perhaps this way you can easier recreate the album in your current library. It is not possible directly to import albums from a different iPhoto library. You could import the photos again, that the album contains, but that would create duplicates.

What kind of album is it? A slideshow, or a book album?

    Thanks leonieDF....

I am trying to restore book album.......and my thoughts were that I know that in September my album was still in existence in my iphoto.  I inadvertenly deleted the album...(individual pics still in iphoto...buried in hundreds of other pictures)....so I thought that I could just restore the entire iphoto from a date in September I knew was good.

I go to time capsule...pick a date, it downloads it....puts another version of Iphoto in my applications folder, then I get a message...in order to view this, you must upgrade to the latest version of iphoto.  My current version is 9.5, the restored version is 9.4.3, and I am guessing it is telling me unless I can upgrade the 9.4.3 to 9.5 it wont open it.

Am I trying to restore the wrong thing?  I go back in time on the time capsule, and find iphoto in applications, and tried to restore from there....should I be restoring from another document.....?

Obviously, my knowledge level is not to deep on this subject, thought it would be as simple as restoring....but apparently not.....

I am not worried about losing any photos that I have downloaded since the date I am trying to restore, because they are few in number, and can easilly download them again.

Again I appreciate the help....and can still use some more....Thanks.

Yes, need to restore the iPhoto Library, not the iPhoto Application.

Your iPhoto Library is probably in the default location in your "Pictures" folder. It should look like fan of pictures.

Open Time Machine, with the "Pictures" folder selected, then resore to the iPhoto library. I would not restore it on top of your current iPhoto Library, but rename the current library, before you restore the older version.  Once it is restored to the Pictures folder, you can open it it in iPhoto by double-clicking it.
