Good morning.

I have a "new" G4 Powerbook with 10.4 installed.

I'd like to upgrade OS to 10.5, but the previous owner's password is required.

I don't know how to contact them to ask the password.

Can I use retail 10.5 install discs to completely wipe the HD and to install a copy of 10.5 without that password?

Thanks for your time.

    Hi Bruce,

It depends if it's a Firmware Password lock, or just an Admin PW needed,

Hold alt key at bootup, if you see boot choices, then it's not a Firmware PW needed.
