Recently Added playlist does not sync on iPhone under iOS 7

Under a fully up to date setup currently (i.e. MBP on Mavericks, iTunes v11.1.3, iPhone 5/iPhone 5C/iPhone 4 all on iOS 7.0.3), I have observed that my "Recently Added" playlist on iTunes does not sync on any of the iPhones I have under iOS 7.


Said sync was working flawlessly for my iPhone 5/iPhone 4 when under iOS 6 previously.


After a bit of Google browsing, I stumbled upon this one:  The user there actually found the root of the problem, which is the Live Updating option of that playlist in iTunes.


I always had this option checked on, as it really makes no sense to check it off.  With it checked on, the playlist does not sync.  With it checked off, the playlist syncs fine.


Of course, with this option checked off, I then get an extra option when I right-click on the playlist in iTunes, which is the "Update Playlist"...  Basically, now I have to manually update that playlist, which is really annoying.


Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  I.e. keep the Live Updating option checked on and have that playlist sync without problems?


Btw, the Recently Played and the Top 100 playlists that are setup in iTunes in a similar manner all sync w/o problems.
