Q: Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears.  Another  bug?

I'm beginning to wonder whether the problem lies with the Mac mail app (alone) ... I am now running Mac Mail side by side with Outlook 2011, both with the same Exchange account. Today I noticed that 3 out of the 22 messages in my Inbox that I opened in Mac mail remain unopened in Outlook while on my iPhone and in OWA the mails are open as well. So at the moment only Outlook 2011 is out of sync ... I also notice a difference between working from home and working from the university. However, this difference in behaviour is not consistant.

It is getting weirder and weirder.

I think it is with the Mail app and it will stay this way until Apple releases an update to it.  My Outlook 2011 syncs perfectly so I'm at least still able to work ok.

We had a strange issue like this in the past.  Our Exchange CAS servers are behind a pair of F5s and if I edited the hosts file on my MacBook so that the fqdn of the vip would point directly to a CAS server instead of the F5 my mail would come pouring in.  I haven't tried that one yet.  Will have to gice it a shot.  This doesn't feel the same though.

Anyone try the new update? Does it really work, did they fix the Exchange issue?

Got it, installed it, and talking to Exchange 2010. No obvious difference yet...

Unlikely that this does anything for exchange - at least according to apple:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6030

    About the update

Mail Update for Mavericks includes improvements to general stability and compatibility with Gmail, including the following:

    • Fixes an issue that prevents deleting, moving, and archiving messages for users with custom Gmail settings
    • Addresses an issue that may cause unread counts to be inaccurate
    • Includes additional fixes that improve the compatibility and stability of Mail

I suppose they coudl have put it in their 'additional fixes' which would be pretty lame regarding the severity of the exchange issue.

Mail seems to be working for me, but Calendar is still not properly updating events created on iOS devices and in Windows 7.

I installed the update and have opened Mail and it is still looping and not bringing in any new email.  I have not deleted my Exchange account and recreated that yet but will try that tonight after I give this a while to run.  I will report back later but i'm not very happy with the results so far.

I let it run for a few hours and it has brought in only 600 new messages.  At this rate it will take about 2 days for it to download the remaining 20GB of email data.  I cannot say if it will even finish since it will take so long

I just realized that NO activity was going on. No new emails were coming in.   So i closed Mail and openened it and it startted up again  This is ********. This is exhibiting the same issues as before. Maybe not as bad but bad enought that it is not going to work for me

    +1

No obvious change and none promised according the release notes. Incredibly frustrating. I'm also having to work with my iPad on to alert me to incoming emails.

Loaded the update.  Mine seems to be working, but I have a feeling "push" isn't as it should be as messages to Mail arrive around 5 minutes after they arrive in Outlook on Windows.

Just to add another experience to the list....

This is my first experience of Apple after purchasing a Macbook a week ago.

Sometime during the week the Mavericks mail app suddenly stopped viewing the complete list of emails in my Exchange (2008) inbox. All emails after 28th Oct can be viewed.

I have downloaded and installed the Mail update this morning, but same issue. I've tried removing the Exchange account, but same issue. Seems to be related to a date in October.

    Any update Apple?

I just installed the mail update, and my computer still has the same issue described by everyone else.  I am using webmail because my mac mail is so slow to receive emais.  I think I'm going to have to switch back to Outlook.  I was hoping this would get fixed with this update.

I installed the update a few days ago. Looks like Mac Mail and exchanged synced up and was current. I just sent myself a test email from another acount and I'm still waiting for the email to come through the Exchange connection. But the IMAP connection I have been using to connect to my Exchange server in Mail loaded the test email I sent myself immeediately. Still waiting for the test email to come through Exchange...and no activity in a in the Activity window after it apparently synched to the server. Poor showing Apple...please fix ASAP.
